In 2017, I hired **** to prepare and file my taxes. I received an email from him stating that he had successfully filed my taxes. 4 years later, I received a letter from the *** stating that I owed more money. I sent **** the notice and asked if he had proof that my taxes were filed and accepted from the ***. He never responded with proof. I then sent the notice back to the ***, along with my taxes and the email from **** saying they were filed. A year later, money was garnished from my bank account for $907.96. I was told from the collections department that this money was for late fees, penalties and collection (none of it was for actual taxes owed, just for filing 4 years late). I did try to resolve this with the *** but my request was denied based on my taxes being filed late. I then requested **** to pay me the total amount. Because I hired him professionally to prepare and file my taxes that year, I believe he owes me this, as this was his fault, not my own. He said no. Then after many emails back and forth, he sent me a check for $674.40. I have since tried to contact him multiple times to receive the rest of the amount and to resolve this with no response. He still owes me $233.56. I'd like to file a complaint against him and collect the rest of the money owed to me. This is his email: ****************Business response

I have no intention of responding to you on this matter.
************** registered a complaint with me regarding the filing of his 2017 ******************* tax returns. I responded in kind and refunded him all penalties and interest plus additional fees that he was entitled to.
He is not entitled to any other monies and there won't be any coming.
I consider this matter closed.

I am rejecting this response because: **** did refund me a portion of what was garnished from the FTB. However, he didn't include the charge for the collection department. I emailed him many times regarding the breakdown of costs. He never responded. He still owes me $233.56 to cover the full costs. What he said to you is not completely true, which means he's a liar. I have tried to collect this money from him, but he stopped communicating with me.
