On three separate occasions during the month of July, I experienced a pervasive pattern of dysfunction at the Tons of Bubbles laundromat on *************** in *************. The incidents were of three types, washing machines in disrepair, byzantine procedures to effectively operate washing machines and dryers, repeated mischarges for time on drying machines, and price increases with temperature lowering problems. Per my experience, and anecdotal stories from other patrons, machines at this establishment malfunctioned frequently. I experienced on one occasion a machine that charged me correctly, locked the door, and shut itself down with the door locked. No wash was done. It took many minutes before the lock released. On three occasions dryer timing was charged correctly but the dryer machine was off by as many as 10 minutes. On the highest temperature setting, clothes remained damp. Again, anecdotal stories for patrons in the laundromat at this time detailed similar issues and dissatisfaction. When reported to the manager, I was told "no one else has complained." However, lack of complaints does not indicate a lack of problems. The process of adding time to dryers at this establishment is unnecessarily byzantine. In fact, it immediately raised my suspicions that it required twice swiping your credit card (or once depending on the day). While I do not believe this business is attempting to purposefully mislead or defraud customers, the labyrinthine process of adding time to dryers coupled with lower temperatures without notice and discrepent time between charges and actual drying time delivery, give the impression of mismanagement at best, and fraud at worst. In fact, when these issues were brought to the owners attention, they did agree there were significant problems that needed addressing. Nevertheless, I cannot say with certainly whether any of the charges truly delivered the agreed upon services and I request a full refund for all business conducted during July.
