I have attended Fanime for 6 years, and last attended in 2019. I bought a ticket to the event in 2020 about 6 months beforehand, only for it to be cancelled. There were no events for 2020 or 2021, during which they rolled over my ticket. They held the event in 2022 but mandated vaccinations for all people attending. I have medical reasons to not be vaccinated, so I was fine with getting a refund. They denied the request, saying that despite their policies changing drastically in regard to who could attend, they would not refund my ticket despite being bought in Jan 2020 when COVID didn't exist. This 3 years out from when I initially bought it, so I am without recourse from my bank. I am sure that the reason I wasn't given a refund was because this company would be deeply in the red from offering to refund people for not having been vaccinated, and figured that they could get away with not refunding people.

I bought tickets to FanimeCon for me and my friend in 2019 for 2020 fanimecon before the shut down happened. They allowed us to save our tickets until 2022 due to Covid. In January, fanime sent out a notice for their Covid policy and it stated that fully vaccinated meant the two doses of ************** or one shot of J&J. My friend and I met those requirements and thought that we were good to go to the event. A few days before the event in May, fanimecon sent out another Covid policy. However, this policy was different. It stated that to be fully vaccinated meant you had to have both of your boosters. My friend and I didnt have time to go get our boosters in time for the event and I started looking to get a refund for my tickets. I have been emailing fanime constantly before the event and after the event. They had stated that if people couldn't make it to fanime due to their new Covid policy, they would refund the order. I emailed them asking for a refund and have no response whatsoever from them and havent received a refund. I've gotten to the point that I've hired a ***** (yes I've hired a *****) to try and help me get my money back. She too has not had any luck.

My younger brother was looking forward to this con for over 6 months. No where on the website stated you need to have a Covid booster shot to enter. We have been very careful researching what the requirements are to get into any event. My dad, brother and I spent $70 a ticket and were turned away at the entrance. Later, while doing extensive research, found the requirements were changed two months previous without an email notification or showing that it was changed on the website itself. When we were turned away we were told we can send an email with our names and registration number to get a refund for our tickets. Its been over two months now and none of us have received our refund. There is not a customer service number to call, and we have sent multiple emails to follow up with no response. We only want our refund for the tickets as promised.

On Thursday, May 26, 2022, I spoke with the Vice Chair ********************************* who instructed me to send this email. My 3-year-old son was turned away from Fanime at the door (and by extension, my 4-month-old who I was going to bring), which meant that my family and I could not attend without my children. As such, ********************************* said that my mother and I could be refunded for the cost of our tickets. As of today refund has not been issued & email being ignored. Our registration information is as follows:1) ************************************ - R0373105 2) *******/********************* R0402345

My adult children purchased tickets online to Fanimecon ************ for Friday May 27th 2022 through Monday May 30th 2022. I purchased a hotel room for them for these dates so they could attend and stay in ************. They arrived to the convention center on Friday May 27 at 5:45pm and were told by Fanimecon employees at the door that they were capping the admission lines for badges at 6:30 and no one else was entering that night and to try again tomorrow. My children had already purchased tickets so had paid for admission Friday and I had purchased a hotel room. Fanimecon had no cause to close the admission line before their advertised ***************. Fanimecon did not state anywhere that entry could be denied at any time for no reason. They are scamming young people. My attempts to contact and resolve this with Fanimecon have gone unanswered. I am seeking reimbursement for their denied admission for Fri and for the hotel room fees for Fri.

Fanime has mandated indescretely that all registrants are required to get booster shots even against a doctors perscription and advisement to attend the event they are selling tickets too. I bought a ticket which did not explicitly state this. the association now states they do not accept medical exceptions to this. My wellbeing would therefore be harmed by attending this event, which i can prove. By this deceiful practice and abuse of marketing, i am owed a refund in full for this event.
