My now *********** were planning to get married in ***** June of 2020. We went through Global Fares broker ***************************** to book our flights for party of 12. We booked this and made our full payment of $9,457.44 in January of 2020. In March of 2020, covid hit *****. We were assured that a full refund would be given to us as borders were closed to ***** when we were supposed to arrive. I have multiple messages and correspondence where ***** assured me a full refund was in order nearly the rest of that entire year. At first putting the blame on the airline, then the issuing office as to why it was taking so long. Eventually, I called *************** and spoke with a rep who pulled up my group flight stating it qualified for a full refund and Global Fares had been aware of this for some time, however they never retrieved this. I wrote back to ***** giving her all of that information and again requesting this refund but got more excuses. As of recent, the story is we now have only one option, to take an electronic credit of $$7308.12 not including a $250/each flight change fee once we book again with them. This can only be given back to each passenger and they should book next year. They can also only fly to limited destinations in **************** We've not even been given a list of cities, a website or brochure to see where or how to use this credit however, this is not the option we were originally promised. Furthermore, since we were promised this full refund for several months, my husband and I refunded fully back our entire wedding party in good faith that when they got their refunds from this company they would pay us back. Since that is not happening, my husband and I are out the $9,457.44. When you go to their website: globalfares.com it clearly states they're not even providing any services at this time. To resolve, we won't settle for anything less than our full refund of $9,457.44 originally promised and would like this company investigated for fraud.Initial Complaint

I have credit at this travel agency for two flights which were cancelled during the Covid 19 pandemic. I have tried to access this credit, which they extended until December 2022, but have not been able to contact them via phone or email since June 2021. I want them to refund my money since I can't contact them to book travel using my airline credit.Business response

Dear BBB,
Our company's business has stopped by government regulations and our revenue was close to zero since 17 March 2020. We suggest all our customers to contact their banks in order to get their money back.
As far as this particular complaint please have customer( ***************************** ) to contact our billing department at ********************************** and we will try to accommodate her travel need.

I am rejecting this response because: I have already done as ***** suggested, attempting to pursue a refund through my credit card company. I have not been able to obtain one yet.I also have attempted to book travel with Global Fares to use my credit, but when I contacted them in July specifically to try to book travel from ***** back to *****************, which should have been easy since I have credit with Air France, but I never received a response. I have been using the contact info specified on their website.
Since it is ****** complicated to either get a refund or use my credit, I am continuing to ask that Global Fares directly refund my money or give me the credit with the airlines so that I can access it directly, without them acting as an intermediary.
