After my husband died, I had the utilities - Tredegar solar - placed under my name. For nearly a year, I received bills to my *** address & paid them under my own name. The company changed their billing system and I stopped getting bills. Despite not getting bills, I sent estimated payments-no one was on the phones & the online system didn't work. I figured if I acted in good faith, they'd understand if the payments weren't the correct amount. I was worried because my bill arrived 1-2 days before it was due, so it'd be "late". I'd call and complain, and I'd be told I would received a credit on my bill for the late penalty, but I never was able to confirm this - the bill always only stated current charges.About a year ago, still no bills, one of the panels started leaking. I called weekly for 2 months and never could get through to anyone. I had to get a private roofer to seal around the solar panels - but that was a temporary measure. In May 2022, I received a bill under my husband's name, mailed to the wrong address, for over $3000.00. I explained that the bill was to the wrong address, that I had not been billed for nearly a year, that the name was wrong as my husband had passed away and I had several bills with my name and the correct address on them to prove the mistake was theirs. They had upgraded their system, but used old info: I was told I would have to basically sign up all over again, and prove that I owned the house by a "Bill of Sale" which I didn't have because the sale was to me and my (now deceased) husband. After literally months of phone calls, someone was able to look in a file and see that I was right, and RE-make the updates. I paid the amount (being threated with legal action when I had to make arrangements because I didn't have $3K all at once). I requested the bills be resent, but they could only send a couple of months - which never arrived.The leak is back, they messed the bill up AGAIN, and I want to deal with a competent company.
