Rented a car from this location:******************************************************************************************* ************ Returned the car to this location:*********************************************************************************************************** ************ Returned the car with some amount of dirt/sand on the exterior, and not an excessive amount on the interior as well near the feet and trunk. Could have cleaned everything pretty easily in 15 min at a self-serve car wash, but didn't think it was so unusual that there would be an issue returning it directly as-is.When I dropped off the car, they didn't mention any issues either. But a few weeks later, I was suddenly charged a $450 fee from AVIS on top of the original rental, with no email or phone call to notify me. It was so unexpected that I thought my credit card had been stolen, and it took another 1.5 months of my bank investigating before they finally figured out AVIS had charged the amount for "excessive exterior dirt"Not only was the lack of communication extremely unprofessional, but the $450 fee is a gross exaggeration of the actual cost to clean it. All it needed was a $10-$20 car wash and some quick vacuuming of the interior.Business response

Thank you for taking the time to send the pictures.
If those were the actual pictures taken when the vehicle was dropped off, it is indeed a detail car. Also when we receive detail cars such as this we do have to send them to a professional detailer which is an added cost to us. This is the reason we pass those external charges along to the customer.
However, as a one time courtesy, i will submit a credit of $75 towards your CC on file. You will see this reflected on your CC statement in 7 to 10 business days.

I am rejecting this response because:I don't understand what a "detail car" is. As seen in the original attachment, this was the car I rented:
Vehicle Number: 51131124
Vehicle Group Rented: Intermediate
Vehicle Group Charged: Subcompact
Vehicle Description: BLK *** FORTE
License Plate Number: *********This is a pretty average Sedan, that retails brand new at around an MSRP of $20k or so. It's not an exotic or special car in any sort of way. What requires it to be cleaned so expensively? It sounds like maybe it was mistaken for a different kind of car on your end?
