Pond installed keeps killing fish. Pond has no UV lights or bottom drains. Pond has illegal electrical. Pond keeps getting overgrown with algae

      Business response

      08/17/2022

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2021/09/02) */ The pond was complete in February of 2013. It was equipped with a skimmer and a vault containing a biological filter. The pond was connected to an existing 110 volt electrical line. I offered to install a UV clarifier at additional cost and ***** refused that offer. ***** refused to run the pump saying it used to much electricity. This caused the water in the pond to become stagnant and creating algae. ***** has torn the pond apart in an attempt to modify it? This complaint is totaly bogus! I am attaching photos of the pond and its construction. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2021/09/08) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) Contractor kept charging me maintenance and we were continually draining and cleaning the pond. The fish kept dying and I was getting charged for more and more fish. I have now found out that the electrical was done illegally without permits. I have looked at my home land map and found the pond and water fall was installed outside of my property lines and has to be removed. Contractor was also working with illegal and uninsured employees. The water pump installed uses 1000 watts of electricity. This is not the correct type of pump to run a pond 24/7. This caused my electricity bill to more than double. I kept the pump running and the water kept turning dark green and the fish kept dying. No biological filtration was used. Contractor told me to install solar panels to offset the cost of running the incorrect water pump. Contractor told me he would remove the pond and leave the waterfall and charge me for it. I said no, I paid for a koi pond, this pond you built keeps killing koi fish and turning green. Please have contractor provide invoices and receipts for the fish that died, the estimate for repair, the electrical permits, the site plan, and the estimate for installing the UV light which was necessary in the first place.
