I contacted ****** for a business tax strategy. ****** requested I send him all of our financial, personal tax returns and business tax returns for his examination. We then had a brief conversation about business operations. About a week later he emailed me saying he can guarantee at LEAST 50k in savings for tax year 2021 and his fee for this would be ******** He wouldn't tell me his plan until I paid, Looking over his reviews he seemed like trustworthy person as he had good reviews. I paid and waited for his master plan. He finally revealed his plan that he was going to accelerate the depreciation in our commercial property. (something we had already tried and were told it's not possible) I had told him this and he said that he would come up with another master plan. Months later he came up with his new master plan which advised us to dissolve our dealership corporation every 5 years and open a new business. This is ridiculous as 1. it doesn't sound legal, and 2. it's not possible to open and close a dealership corporation due to all the licensing involved with it. We are now into our super busy season and had no time to think over the proposal. I told him we aren't interested in this proposal and he failed to deliver on his promise (at least 50k in savings in 2021 tax filing) he now states that he won't issue us a refund.

      Business response

      09/06/2022

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/07/01) */ Mr. ***** is seeking a refund that is not in accordance to the terms of the engagement that he agreed to when he hired us for tax planning, which does include a satisfaction guarantee and a full refund of fees if requested within 10 days of receipt of the tax plan report. A copy of this engagement letter has been provided for reference. The report was delivered at our meeting on May 4, 2022, during which we spent 90 minutes going over it with him and addressing his questions about it. We fulfilled the terms of the engagement letter that was signed by Mr. ***** on 2/25. Mr. ***** requested a refund on June 16, 2022, well outside of the 10 day period specified in the engagement letter. He was offered a partial fee refund as a gesture of goodwill even though there is no obligation to do so, but he refused it. Lastly, Mr. ***** was never promised $50,000 of tax savings for 2021. We discussed tax saving of that amount over the next 12 months, and our report outlines a completely legal and valid strategy that would exceed that target. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/07/13) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) The contract was signed early 2022 and in the contract it states at least 50k reduction in 2021 tax year filing. the information I received in May was many pages long, I had to take my time to read and understand all of it. Only to find out the suggestions put forth were 1. had nothing to do with 2021 tax filing and 0 savings would take place 2. seem extremely illegal Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2022/07/20) */ As explained previously this complaint is completely without merit. I have already provided a copy of the contract which clearly outlines our obligations as well as the refund policy. That Mr. ***** persists on pursuing this baseless claim is unfortunate but completely outside of our control. Consumer Response /* (4200, 11, 2022/07/29) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) here is the proof that this company assured me AT LEAST 30k in savings in 2021 tax return when in fact not a penny was saved in 2021 nor was it even revealed in his "grand plan" when he finally emailed it to me which was long after he filed my 2021 return. Business Response /* (4000, 13, 2022/08/27) */ The customer has been provided with a full refund of the fees he paid. Consumer Response /* (2000, 15, 2022/09/05) */ (The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.) Full refund has been received. this case is closed. please remove from public records as requested via written email.
