I saw Dr. Ricuccio Negom (###-###-####) on 10/11/2022. I was told I needed 2 crowns that would cost $9,000 and my out of pocket would be $3,500 up front (which I paid at their office that day via credit card). I went home to check my dental plan myself and this is way out of line. I called and asked for a refund and that I wanted a 2nd opinion. I got a 2nd opinion on 10/14/22 from Friendly Smiles Dental in SLO, CA. (###-###-####) Two different dentists at the practice said that I don’t need to have 2 crowns, I don’t even have a cavity. Still no refund. Then a week later, I got a letter stating that I’ve been approved for a loan in the amount of $18,500 for an upcoming dental procedure. I did not apply for this loan and had no knowledge of it. Why would I need a loan if I paid for the two crowns that I don’t need upfront? I believe this dentist was going to find more work that I don’t need, hence applying for a loan on my behalf. The loan was applied for on the same day that I visited this dental office on 10/11/22. I’d love to get my $$ back but would also love to stop this from happening to others - unnecessary and unneeded costly dental work. I’ve spent so much time on the phone with Delta Dental and various credit bureaus to have the credit inquiry from the loan they took out in my name removed. Any credit inquiry affects credit scores. I attached a copy of the letter and the charge of $3540.00 from my credit card. It appears I have been credited for the amount but I really haven’t. I filed a complaint/dispute with my credit card company so they take it off your bill until it is resolved. The matter has not been resolved in my favor yet. I am rejecting this response because:It states that I have been given a refund and the case is closed. I have absolutely NOT been given a refund and this case is NOT closed. Yes, I would love a refund however, I would also like the public to know of this dentist’s unscrupulous practices. I was told I needed to have two crowns at a cost of $9,000.00. I got a second opinion from two separate dentists who confirmed that I absolutely do not need two crowns. There was no decay noted. When I made this dentist aware of this, I still have not received a refund. Additionally they filled a a form in my name to obtain a medical loan for $18,500 which I never asked for or authorized. I then had to file a fraud complaint to have the inquiry taken if my credit record. This dentist could have cost me a hugely unnecessary and costly dental procedure.

I am rejecting this response because: I am not embellishing facts. These facts can be proven. X-rays that we’re taken by the second opinion dentists who told me that I didn’t need to have 2 crowns can be obtained by Friendly Smiles Dental Office in San Luis Obispo. One phone call to this office will corroborate my complaint. They can be reached at 805-543-8440. To date I have not received a refund from Dr. Negom’s office. I’m happy to send in my credit card statements to prove this. I am not harassing their office. The receptionist called me and told me I would not be receiving a refund unless I sent to them the X-rays taken at the second opinion dentist. I don’t see why they would need to have copies of the second opinion dentists X-rays in order to receive a refund. A refund should be issued because I paid for work that was never performed and in fact I never needed in the first place.
