On August 5th I found the car, Chevrolet Captiva 2012, for $5900 on ******** Marketplace. I reached out to the owner, *******************. On ***** ***** I called back with a few questions and concerns about the car having the engine light on in all the pictures and was reassured by **** that all was well. I drove down to see the car and when I arrived the engine light was not showing anymore. I drove it around and it seemed to run ok. I questioned a few issues and was assured again all was well. I decided that I would purchase the car so on 08-07***** I drove to meet **** and gave him $500 deposit to hold the car. On 08-10***** I drove back with the rest of the money ,$5400 to purchase the car. I again was assured by **** that the car was reliable and in excellent condition. I drove it home, it was traffic time, I was maybe 1/2 way home when the car began shaking excessively and the check engine light turned on. I had to pull over. I did not think I would make it home. I waited for about 1 hour and continued the drive home with the engine shaking. Immediately I called **** and let him know the problem. He seemed to be in disbelief saying he did not know what had happened, when he drove it it was in perfect condition. He agreed to come the next day to examine the car. On 08-11***** he came to my home to examine the car. **** swapped the coils 1 & 2. We drove the car for about 45 minutes. During the drive the car began to shake again. We drove back to my house where he proceeded to reset the codes (P0011 intake camshaft position- timing over-advanced or system performance bank 1, P0300 engine misfire detected) with his scanner. and he said he would order some parts (4 coils and 2 sensors) to my house to have my son replace the parts. The parts arrived about a week later. My son replaced the parts. I drove the car around again and the problem continued. I called **** and he said to try something different ( disconnect the battery and reset the computer)and if the problem continued we could work something out with me. We tried his suggestion with no positive result. I called him back and told him we were not having any luck. I asked what we could do. I asked if he would return my money and he became irate and refused. I told him he was not honest and he knew the car had problems prior to selling it and he did not disclose the problems. **** quickly hung up on me. I now have a car sitting in my driveway and unable to be driven. I can not believe he did not know it had problems being that selling cars and towing cars is his business for the last ***************************************** out of my money which I work hard to earn. I trusted him and ended up with a non operable car. I had the car for less then an hour and the engine light turned on and the car began shaking ending with a severe engine problem. I am asking that **** refund my money and all fees that have been spent and he is refusing. I am bringing this issue to you to insure that something be done.
