We withdrew our child from Caulbridge Middle School on October 9, 2023 after less than 5 full weeks of classes due to a breach of contract and concerns related to the services provided, appropriate academic support, and the psychological and physical safety of our child. On December 12, 2023, we received a notice from a collection agency for outstanding debt of $5979.91: $5,009.91 is for tuition and $970 for Misc Student Charges. We paid $11,926.70 in tuition from August through October. We received notification that our tuition insurance reimbursed Caulbridge $18,823.39, bringing the total Caulbridge received to $30,750.09 or 85% of the contracted tuition for a 10 month school year at $35,780. Caulbridge ceased operation of its middle school as of December 15, 2023 giving two weeks notice to currently enrolled parents. Parents who paid monthly through December received $7500 back from Caulbridge. In short, Caulbridge has received 85% of the annual tuition, only offered services for 40% of the school year, and we received less than 5 full weeks of educational services. The additional charge for $970, labeled Misc Student Charges, appears to be for repairs to the physical plant of the school. We have reviewed the student handbook and do not find any indication that students are required to pay for repairs to school facilities. The condition of the physical plant and facilities were among our concerns for our child's physical safety. How we have tried to resolve the issue:December 13, 2023, we wrote to Caulbridge requesting that the debt be discharged immediately. January 3, ****, we sent a letter to the collections agency and to Caulbridge requesting that the debt be discharged. January 9, ****, we called both the collections agency and Caulbridge requesting assistance in voicemails. We request help in discharging this debt and recommend that the agency investigate school operations and finances.
