I bought a car financed by this company, which, after a week of using it, its engine failed, so they asked me to return the car to repair it and gave me a temporary car while they solved the problem, the following cars also failed,I already have made two payments of $300 and I still have not the vehicle I bought, neither a response nor a solution from their manager, I demand a solution or a refund of my money, since I have the necessary proof of bad service, this complaint was also filed with the *** (FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION).Business response

My wife and I purchased a vehicle at sterling imports on 5/24/22, our down payment was $4,000. We gave $3,000 cash and agreed to pay the balance of $1,000 in 2 payments. $500 was due 6/6/22 and the 2nd payment was due 6/13/22. The dealership was having trouble verifying my income and chose to cancel the contract after almost 3weeks. My wife tried to pay the balance and she was told the car had to be returned or they would repo the vehicle. My wife returned the vehicle and was told the down payment could not be refunded even though the vehicle was returned.Business response

Hello, this statement from the customer is false. Customer gave us false information which led to the approval being invalid after a few weeks in finance. Down payment wasnt paid when it was due & customer stipulations werent given.Initial Complaint

I bought a 2019 ****** Kicks SV today (03/01/2022). I drove off the **** around 3:30/4 P.M. I drove it for 39 Miles and the car broke down. The car will not accelerate more than 5 miles an hour, and turns off after 30/40 seconds of being on. A few lights from the cluster came on, from traction control, object infront of vehicle, a triangle that means caution and a sign that reads WARNING MALFUNCTION SEE OWNERS MANUAL. I called the dealership and they said it was the car battery and to just buy a new Battery and the problem should go away. And that the car was sold to me "AS IS" I asked if I could return the car and they said I could not return the car cause it's an AS IS DEAL.Business response

I purchased a Subaru Impreza from this place on July 18, 2021 and was told by Jazmin my salesperson that their mechanic had performed a full safety inspection prior to my purchase. I also was given temporary paper plates and a temporary registration. I have since contacted both Jazmin and owner Mike regarding plates and have been told their working with DMV and to wait another week, still no plates. Yesterday I called DMV myself. I’ve lost financing at my bank Safe 1. Was told by DMV they just received payment for the transaction yesterday from Sterling Imports so it doesn’t appear they proactively were working on this. Also car broke down and I took it to Sangera Subaru in Bakersfield. Along with plugs I paid 570.10, it needs a Cam Carrier reseal both sides at 2093.95 which is not covered by the aftermarket warranty they sold me for 1795. As a consumer I had reasonable expectations their mechanic checked this car prior to its purchase but after asking Mike I didn’t get answer.Business response

Hello ******, the temporary registration on your vehicle is valid for 90 days & in the state of California we have up to 90 days to register your vehicle. I have been in contact with you via text message on keeping you updated throughout the registration process. I also sent you proof of the fees being posted on August 18, 2021.
As for the mechanical issues on the Subaru, Our used cars come with a standard 30day /1000 mile warranty. Vehicle was in great working condition when it was originally sold to you in July 18, 2021. The extended warranty that was purchased covers main power train components on the vehicle, If you'd like I can take a look at your service request and speak to the warranty company on how they can help you.

I was told at dealership car was inspected prior to my purchase but it doesn't explain how I've needed brakes, sparkplugs and cam shaft seals if it in fact was tested by a mechanic. Regarding registration, as far as I know DMV doesn't accept transactions without payments being made. Payment only arrived this week
