I hire Winchester Construction to remodel a small bathroom July 2023. I was to supply materials and they were to remove a shower, vanity, toilet, wall cabinet, lights, flooring, door and base trim. Prep textured walls for smooth wall finish. Prime & paint walls. Install a new custom shower with customer half wall and new shower pan. Change plumbing valves and drain, and installing hardware. Install new shower wall slabs. Install new floor tiles. Grout and seal new shower, and ************ new floor tiles as well. Install new light fixture & mirror. Install new vanity, connecting all plumbing and hardware. Reinstalling existing toilet. Installing new **************** The labor for this work was to be $8500, and the shower and floor materials were to cost me est. $4500. Totaling around $13,000 and all work to be completed in 5 weeks. The project demoed work and shower install beginning early August 2023. Flooring and shower wall slabs were installed mid August 2023. Prep work for walls were unfinished/raw drywall compound. Floor tiles were installed. I spoke to contractor regarding fitment of wall slabs (large gaps, new wall uneven, poorly mounted slabs) and I was assured all was performed to general construction standards and would be fine once grouting was finished. The contractor hired a grouting specialist to grout floor and shower together, and he didn't show. In the time waiting I consulted with other bathroom remodelers to get another opinion of my concerns of the flaws in the shower. I was informed by 4 companies the shower - ********** slabs were not installed by any construction standards and would need to be trashed and start over. The quotes I received to demo the shower and reinstall similar shower - $18K to 24K or basic working shower - $10K to 15K I contacted the gentleman I was working with *********************** informing him I'm not going to continue this project with them and would like them to pay for their damage to my shower.

**** Do did hire me under such contract. What she failed to mention is that there was no time frame for job to be completed. On several instances I could not start work until she was home and at time she would be away where I could not come. Which threw off the timeline. The stone and tile were set to her liking and she talked to the subcontractors herself. She failed to mention that when she bought materials she did not take into account her pony wall was 5 ft. And her slab was 4ft. Per our agreement I was to put a slab directly on the pony  wall with no cuts. She then asked me to custom cut the 1ft remaining on top, to which I told her that would be fine. But it would be a change order. She refused to pay the change order and told me that she herself would finish that extra 1ft piece on top. I told her if she does this that it would not be covered under Winchester Construction warranty since it would not be my work. She then asked me to stop work since she was on break. I left and have made multiple attempts to call her to complete the work. She did not answer, the next time I heard from her. She was sending me a threatening email stating she found other contractors who would redo the work and she wanted her money back. I told. **** Do that I would like all work permitted. To which she replied that she did not want to do permitting and would take care of it later. Obviously,  if someone comes in. They will state that the work is unsatisfactory so they can come in and make more money. All the work is done correctly and I have pictures and videos to prove so. **** is not happy because **** didn't order the material she wanted and changed her mind towards the end of the project. She wants a restart button pressed. I don't believe she behaved professionally on her end and I have kept my word on my end. I cannot complete work if the customer is unresponsive. **** was listening to her unlicensed handyman for opinions instead of contacting me directly with any questions or concerns. It was a very unprofessional work environment.
