The residents of the Church of the Valley Retirement Homes, Incorporated, are negatively impacted by several problems that includes discrimination, elder abuse and poor environmental condition, such as: dust and mold, water quality due to old water softener system and bugs infestations; such as, cockroaches and bed-bugs. Valley Village was built in the 60s and so it does have asbestos and lead-based paint. Some of the residents have experienced severe health problems; that goes from life threatening respiratory allergies reaction to cancer. The toxic dust and mold coming from the air conditioning and heating systems, along with roaches infestation have been causing problems, such as: Sneezing. Followed by bleeding nose. Runny nose.Itchy, red and watery eyes.Stuffy nose.Itchy and burning eyes, nose and throat.Postnasal drip (a flow of mucus from behind your nose into your throat)Cough.Itchy skin and skin rash. The water causes skin dryness and rashes. The Church of the Valley forces residents to pay for food, but the food is not proper for people over 60, who have health conditions. Most of the time the food is salty; that could cause blood pressure alteration; and there is no accommodation for diabetic or people with allergies as well. It should be illegal for this business to force renters to pay for its food. Renters put down deposits without seen the unit. Once deposit is down to hold the unit, renter can't give up or loses the deposit. Hazardous materials are not disclosed until renter sign contract. Some of the units have no balance bar and towel racks or cabinet; Valley Village refuses to provide them; but encourage tenants to install them on their own cost. It reads here "Customer Reviews are not used in the calculation of the BBB Rating." How come the BBB rates without taken into consideration all these problems? How a place infested by roaches, with asbestos and lead-based paint everywhere and abuses elder have an A+?
