On the third week of February, Mr M*** verbally contracted work on a house that was being prepared for a short time rental Airbnb. An 800 square feet one bedroom house needed renewal a bathroom shower, paint the walls which included repairing cracks on wall, replace the flooring with laminate floors and replace baseboards as the major tasks. These were the tasks for which Mr. M*** was contracted. It was assumed that a month was an appropriate time to complete the work, yet there were a number of problems with the way the work was conducted. It progressed slowly and "piece meal". During the second and third week in March none of his workers showed up to work for more than two weeks. All tasks progressed very slowly, and there were major tasks such as tearing down the old shower stall to prepare for tiling that were left undone or that tasks were poorly done for or never finished. Albeit previous work was not ever finished, other workers begun to paint the walls, not in the details agreed but in plain white. No walls were primed for painting and consequently, the paint peeled and bubbled; never completed. The laminate floors, and base boards were never done. The shower tiling and fixtures were done completed but left undone which the contractor (Luis M***), completely denied the charges and asked for more time to complete the tasks. Six weeks passed and none of the jobs contracted for were ever completed. When requested that he return some of the money fronted for the work he complained and stated that what had been done (never completed) had cost much more than the amount fronted (i.e., 6,000 claims the actual work already done had costs 7,500). He refused to return any money, The time lapse cause many problems including no way for other workers to be contracted from another company to come in and repair what still needed to be done. Luis M*** should return 4,000 from the 6,000 deposit. This was half of the actual cost projected to complete the work.Customer response
