I m currently disputing charges through my bank on charges for a partial payment of $508.00 for work that was performed on Jan 3-5 and I was not called nor asked before completion on approval for starting lines that were being relocated for ***** switch from ***** starboard to helm and they were spliced because starting line was short and was spliced near deck of boat helm. I did not want it that way so after few weeks of trying to talk to them about it owner said he is not giving no reimbursement but offered to eat the labor but I pay for whole new starting lines that were agreed to be up to code. I told him to call me before he did anything and talk about line choices. He never called again and did work without my approval. I asked him upon completion and he said with attitude I dont know it what we use here. I asked what brand and gauge and he says I dont know that charge was $193.76. But the amount was well north of $1000 total for that specific repair. total invoice that it included in is $3568.40. And on invoice it all clumped together not detailed well on hrs for each job. electrician mentioned early on before repair that probably two days of labor for repair on starting lines job. I took boat to another mechanic for second opinion. said the gauge was incorrect not up to code from ****** he is a ***** authorized mechanic. said it was underpowered with that gauge and sub standard work. gauge they used is thinner grade #4. original lines was #2 thicker. He did estimate on whole engine and also said that oil used for oil change was incorrect too thick viscosity also on starting lines invoice and shift cables were installed too tight which was done year prior from santa **** boat. frustrating thing on shift cables is dont know wear and tear that was done to it from shift cables being too tight. Im hoping to get reimbursement oil change they did wrong, incorrect install shift cables and difference of starting line repair job if my bank does rule in my favor.
