On December 24, 2021, my wife called me to let me know that the back part of our property and our neighbors property had collapsed in a landslide! What a great Christmas present.I was very lucky to find a contractor that sent a crew down that night to cover the slide area with plastic and sand bags. And it stayed covered until the rainy season ended and we could remove the plastic and let the hillside dry out.Once the plastic was removed, I started contacting contractors to get an idea of what we and our neighbor were facing as far as resolving the slide area in a way that no additional property would be lost, and we wouldn't lose our deck.We has four different contractors come to the site and three of them told us that we would need a 70 foot long and 6 foot tall soldier pile retaining wall which would cost somewhere in the neighborhood of between $100,000 to $300,000 and that didn't include the required permits, soils report, or structural design for the wall!!! Not what we wanted to hear!Someone suggested calling *********************, the owner of ************************************ I did, and ***** met with my wide and I and our neighbor. After he took a few minutes to look at the slide area, I said, "So, what do you think? He looked at each of us and then told us his "ball-park" estimate - less than a third of what the other contractors had told us it would cost (for the retaining wall - I acted as the project manager and got plans drawn after a soils report was created).The County gave us an emergency permit to start construction of the retaining wall, and within 2 days we had the wall built and completed just before the major rains started!I couldn't be happier, both because the ********************* charged was so amazing, and he actually followed through with everything he said he would do. And he and his crew did an amazing job on a very difficult site.***** and *********************************** are "keepers"!!!!
