My girlfriend recently bought a vehicle from Carriage Motors and the experience has turned out to be one of the worst that either of us has ever been through. The vehicle was purchased out of necessity, as her previous one was totaled in an accident. When we bought the vehicle, she put $4000 down in cash and financed the rest. We were told that the vehicle had undergone 120 point inspection by Hensleys Automotive, when in fact it had not. When I contacted Hensleys, I was informed that Carriage Motors regularly ops 4 a $20 safety inspection and not the 120 point inspection. I also discovered from Hensleys that there were several things wrong with this vehicle, including the brakes, the oil level and the transmission fluid level. The only thing that Hensleys were authorized by Carriage Motors to do, Was a transmission fluid change. The brakes were entirely shot and the emergency brake was broken. Carriage Motors denied Hensleys doing the repairs. Shortly after purchasing the vehicle, I was diagnosed with cancer and life took a very unexpected turn, Preventing us from doing anything about the problems that we had encountered with the new vehicle. As soon as we were able, in between rounds of chemo and treatment for an infection, I had the vehicle inspected and authorized $1016.21 worth of repairs that should have been done prior to the sale of the vehicle. All of the motor mounts and the transmission mounts were shot. The shop that did the repairs for us, was Santa **** Hydromatic, which is an extremely reputable business, here in town. When I contacted Carriage Motors, all three times, I was told that there was nothing they could or would do, because it had been too long since the purchase of the vehicle and we did not get the extended warranty. Even after explaining our situation with my diagnosis and the inability to take care of anything so soon after the purchase of the vehicle, they didnt care, because we didnt get an extended warranty.
