I joined this gym on 7-1-2023. I knew pretty quickly that my knees were not capable of doing these exercises. I called on **** to cancel my membership. The woman told me to submit an email. I sent an email on **** and again on **** because I hadnt heard back. I just looked at my credit card statement and they are still charging me. When I called they said the phone call to cancel was noted but they didnt receive the emails. I sent them my emails again and they told me it was the wrong address. I had copied it from their website so I didnt notice there was an r missing. They are refusing to refund my money.Business response

This is a workout studio called Pure Barre in streeterville in *******. They take monthly recurring charges and charged me (and others) for the upcoming month of April. This charge for me was $179.00 and was charged to my card March 28, 2023. Out of the blue on April 2, I got an email saying my membership was canceled and all of the classes were canceled also. Ive sent two emails and called multiple times today- nobody is answering. I found an employee online who said the owner emailed them yesterday (April 2) saying the studio is closed effective immediately. There has been NO communication from the business telling any of the customers that this happened, and they charged me upfront for the month of April (unlimited classes) and now they are closed and effectively stole my money. Nobody has answered the phone or email. I called another franchise in ******* (they are not affiliated with the streeterville location) and they said all of the streeterville pure barre customers have been calling them to see if they know what happened- everyone is in the dark and got their money stolen.
