Apex serves 1000+ weekly clients and allows 100% of them to use their insurance and insurance benefits. Clear consent forms are provided at intake to everyone. Clients are responsible for paying their copays and deductibles when they apply through insurance. If they do not have insurance, they owe the prices they agree to at intake. Anybody that is unable to understand that Apex is a healthcare corporation that has employees it must support by collecting money like any other business is welcome to find free mental health resources through the county/stateReview from Joy C

Horrible business. This practice is unethical and not committed to helping patients in the slightest.Apex Therapy Group Response

It's unfortunate when clients are unhappy. This particular client had a complaint that she was charged a fee adjustment when her insurance claim was properly submitted/processed by her insurance and applied to her deductible. All clients (including this one) are given multiple intake forms to sign before beginning where they understand their insurance sets their client responsibility and not our office. This client signed and agreed to our autopay system where she was alerted she'd pay the deductible amount if her insurance applies to deductible. Upon emailing to inquire about the charge, client was directed to her initial confirmation email stating:
" We found an Cigna plan we will be in-network on with a $50 co-pay. To that end, we will bill your card on file $50 after each session and adjust after claim processing if your responsibility is more or less. Please contact Cigna for questions about things like deductible, authorization, referral, etc. At claim processing, Cigna will decide your exact patient responsibility. "
Clients are responsible for understanding their insurance if they choose to use insurance. This complaint was responded to within the hour when initially e-mailed and client chose to complain/accuse Apex instead of following up with insurance

The Practice Manager (**) at Apex is AWFUL! The other reviews on here are spot on. I had a work meeting come up and was going to be late to my appointment today, so I emailed hours in advance to inform the ** and my therapist (stating somewhere between **** minutes depending on when the meeting ends). While I know what agreements I signed when I entered Apex, I would never expect a therapy practice to have zero flexibility (especially with someone who consistently makes their appointments). I was not going to be a no-show; I was going to be late. Now I am being charged $180 (full session price). This place is not about mental health at all and the ** lacks compassion (it is laughable that they are the face of client relations at a MH organization). I would stay far away from this place- their business practices are not aligned with mental health care. My bad for assuming that absolutely no one would be so rigid in practice (they are!). Find another place (and look at the **'s responses below- this should tell you everything you need to know).Apex Therapy Group Response

When alerted the office she'd be **** minutes late to a 12pm appt that day with a 6am email she received a prompt reply at 9am stating succinctly "Please feel free to email to request to begin on the phone if needed. While starting 5 minutes late is acceptable, we are only allowed to wait 10 minutes and being 20 minutes late would be considered a no show"Instead of simply emailing an update as her meeting wrapped up to request to begin over the phone, the client starting hurling insults, terminated weekly sessions. This came after months of successfully communicating and taking advantage of the option to cancel in advance where needed. Client expressed in her venomous emails that she understood and signed the policies but was angry with their implementation. Client felt "hour was set aside for me regardless" with no awareness that reserving an hour for an insurance session requires a minimum length per insurance company rules. For a reader of these reviews, perhaps the reactions to the clear/quick/professional communication our office providers says more about the reviewer than the practice manager? And for a group that serves over 700 clients per week, the people who take the time to complain on BBB perhaps are taking away time and effort that can be spent helping those that need help.Review from Nima K

Where do I start? I was scheduled for a therapy session, and I woke up that day with COVID symptoms. I emailed them letting them know that I am sick and can barely talk and would like to reschedule. They denied my request and charged me $180 from the credit card that I have on file. They wouldn't ***** me an exception even due to COVID and it was absolutely appalling. After explaining this to *************************. He had no remorse and would not work with me. All he did was point to a 48-hour cancelation policy. Absolutely terrible customer service. All they care about is money and not your actual health. If they were smart they would have worked with me as they would have kept me as a patient. but instead, they looked at the smaller picture and fraudulently took my money instead. Insurance carriers need to audit this facility. They are a terrible business and do not care about their patients. Funny thing is... I too am a busy person and when the therapist was sick and I was ready to go for my session, she canceled on me the day of. I was empathetic and agreed to cancel. Shouldn't I be paid for your therapsit canceling on me less than 48-hours of the session. *** is rude and unprofessional. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS.Apex Therapy Group Response

Where to start? When a client is presented with three sets of forms to sign stating the exact same policy, then that is the policy that is implemented. Emailing in less than one hour before an appt to cancel an appt is met with a late cancel fee. This client signed an autopay authorization and his late fee was debited from his card at the time of the missed appt. There is really nothing more to say on this matter. Clients receive this info in EVERY email and text reminder. It is a shame that some customers feel that they can BULLY, threaten to AUDIT and REPORT our office as a way to try and get special exceptions. Emailing profanity and threats is not met with special treatment. Policies are applied uniformly and fairly. And this client is correct--if a therapist cancels more then 24 hours in advance clients are not paid for this situation. It's almost like an airline can delay a flight by an hour without refunding someone's airfare but a passenger gets charged for missing their flight==AVOID AIRLINES AT ALL COSTS Apex continues to provide high level service to 600+ clients/week. Any clients who would like to see a wonderful therapist and use their insurance for weekly sessions are welcome to reach out to Apex. All policies are clearly presented at intakeReview from Ana N

I am having similar issues with the "Practice Manager." They need to be fired for sure. They have no customer service tact that is needed when dealing with clientele that have mental health issues. The bottled response of "per the agreement", "policy", and "no refunds" makes sense as they must be struggling to keep clients. On the other hand, I found an amazing therapist, who I was looking forward to working with for a long time. That was ruined by the experience with the dog t*** that is the "Practice Manager." I am now back to searching for a new therapist.Apex Therapy Group Response

Apex continues to provide high quality therapy to hundreds of patients weekly and implements clearly, uniform, practices to everyone of their clients. For example if a client forgets their appointment they are charged a no show fee. This is explained to everyone in multiple signed intake forms. Anybody interested in working with an amazing therapist and operating under the policies that are explained and presented in writing are invited to work with Apex. Wishing all previous clients all sorts of luck finding a practice that meets all of their needs in the future--including a dog friendly practice as this client seems to require!Review from Chris H.

RUN DONT WALK AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. The issue here is simple, *************************. He is a fraud who prioritizes profit over patient health. The Therapist I had the pleasure of working with was fantastic, but *** was simply a dealbreaker. He needs to be fired from his job or moved to a position independent from the patients as his straw-man arguments and pathetic excuses for billing customers are a detriment to patient health. Let's put it a different way, am I more or less likely to commit self-harm after interacting with ***. MOREApex Therapy Group Response

Apex Therapy Group offers high quality care to hundreds of patients. To make this possible there are CLEAR practice policies that are applied fairly and equitably across the practice. This member understood the policies and reached out of a "special exception" and was told that it would be unethical to allow him a an exception due him consciously prioritizing another commitment, with full knowledge of the late cancel policy. Client was made aware of the potential fee associated (both the day of his request and in over a dozen reminder emails) but felt that his knowledge of big words, ******** and BBB meant he deserved special treatment. This client was even offered a free future copay but declined and instead chose to defame our group.Anybody visiting Apex Therapy Group can expect to have a practice whose policies are presented clearly in writing and enforced fairly/consistently to everyone.Apex Therapy Group Response

Any individuals considering self-harm should contact the suicide hotline or dial 911. Threats of self-harm as a way to defame or punish a business that provides high-quality therapy to hundreds of individuals who need it is disappointingCustomer Response

The manager was extremely rude, nasty and negligent to a client calling seeking therapy. I inquired if I could speak to a therapist who I found online. He sais he was not in the office and would not transfer me to her and that I could fill out a request on their website for a random therapist. I let him know I was interested in her in particular and he said " if you can't fill out the form online maybe this is not for you. " not inky did he hang up the phone on me but he blocked my number ! His name is ******. My council contacted them today and ****** refused to tell us who the owner of the company is and hung up on her as well. This is unacceptable cruel behavior. He acted suspicious asking for my full name instead of answering our question.Apex Therapy Group Response

Potential client called and was invited to fill out a contact form on our website to answer questions about availability and insurance. Potential client refused to provide their name or any information where our office could potentially offer services. When potential client was made aware that the practice manager handled all scheduling and insurance information, caller insisted on calling back to speak directly to therapistwhich is against our polices. Our office line is made for people interested in setting up therapy, not a person who would call a medical office and believe it is "suspicious to ask for my full name."
