Forest Accounting prepared the State and Federal Personal Income Tax returns for Ms. T**** ** ******* for tax year 2021. In late 2022, Ms. B****** died. Her will names me Executor. On or about Feb 6, 2022, I visited "N***i" at Forest's offices, presented a certified copy of the Death Certificate, her original Will, and my ID, and requested copies of her 2021 tax returns for use in preparing her 2022 tax returns. The 2021 returns are Essential for preparation of the 2022 returns. After ignoring numerous phone calls, "N***i" finally took my phone call, and indicated that she was withholding all such documentation, including source documents used to prepare the returns, thereby interfering with my duties as Executor. She also refused to provide her IRS Enrolled Agent number, thereby impeding me from filing a complaint with the IRS. These documents to not belong to Forest Accounting, yet they are being treated as if they do. Ms. B******'s estate is the proper owner of these documents, and I am demanding them immediately.Business response

I was contacted by D**** ***** originally on 11-16-2022 by phone notifying me of the clients passing. He told me he was the Executer of the B****** Estate at that time and said if anyone calls for information to call the police immediately and that people were stealing from my clients Estate. He showed up at my office months later without an appointment requesting her tax records. He brought with him a Last Will and Testament, not Estate Papers. I am not able to verify if this is a current Will although he did provide identification and a copy of the certificate of death. I spoke with legal consultation and it was suggested that the information provided is not enough to release tax documents. I suggested that he contact the IRS for a copy of the clients tax transcript with the information he provided to obtain a copy. He was extremely angry and very unpleasant to deal with rationally over the phone. I offered my Enrolled Agent number however he did not want it because he wanted to report me to the CPA board. His call was so threatening in regards to requesting the information I have felt it necessary to contact the police if he arrives at this location again without an appointment. I am certain the IRS can assist him directly as the paperwork provided is not enough to release the deceased taxpayers documents.
