When we setup our patient portal we were given an estimate of $0 out of pocket. After the test was resulted we were then told we may owe money depending on insurance. Now we are being told we owe $2,999 since insurance denied the claim.Initial Complaint

This company accessed my frozen credit bureau account June 28, 2023, stating the purpose was "to acquire/service/insure account."I had no business with this company for any if their claimed stated purposes included in the credit report.Business response

Hello,
Thank you for bringing this experience to our attention. It is our intention to provide you with the best service possible and our billing team took the initiative to review this order and the order notes. A soft credit check *** have occurred when we were checking patient's insurance benefits in order to determine their out-of-pocket cost.This information is listed on the Test order form as the following, "By agreeing to testing I also authorize Myriad to obtain a consumer credit report on me from a consumer reporting agency selected by Myriad. I understand and agree that Myriad *** use my consumer credit report to confirm whether my income qualifies me for financial assistance. I further understand that this is not a credit application and will not impact my credit score." Our billing team reached out to the patient and advised her of this and sent her a screenshot of this verbiage listed on her order form for her records.
