On August 22 I ordered an AI language learning subscription that advertised realtime exchange and correction. The digital program I received was not this, but a rudimentary chat box on a delay that required typing into the window or pressing button every time you wanted audio. I contacted the company several times requesting a cancellation of my subscription, a refund, and the removal of all my information from their databases. Each time, they ignored the elephant in the room: the product they advertised was not the product the buyer received. I attach below a pdf of two screen shots. The first is of the advertisement and the second is the product received, a chat box. In the advertisement the video AI is talking, responding and correcting. The second screen shot, as you can see, is not this at all: no visual video AI, no realtime exchange.

This business is a scam. I paid for a language learning AI system and understood it to be a one time payment. I am being charged every month since 02/24. There was no indication this was to be a subscription. I am expecting a refund.

"MakesYouFluent.com is AI tutoring to "make you fluent" in any of many languages." They do a pretest & claim that the program is individualized to the student's level. They did not mention in their ads that it is a smartphone-only app. I use my laptop to interact with AI because holding my phone hurts my arthritic hands.I know I did well on the pretest, but the app started me at a Basic Beginner's Level (A1).My Spanish tests at an Advanced Intermediate Level (B2). This is not at all what I expected or wanted. There are none of the promised speaking and listening exercises with AI interaction. They refuse to refund my $39.99 for their product which is useless to me.

I signed up to their app, on 02/26/2024 for a one time single six month subscription. It did not really serve the purpose I intended it to and may have only used the app twice. Every end of month I check my app subscriptions to my phone to ensure that I am not subscribe to any app that I no longer use. So on 02/29/20224, I went to my settings and went to apple subscriptions and there was nothing there. Makes you fluent was not there. Then on March 8, 2024, I saw a pending charge on my AMEX for ***** for makes you fluent subscription. I immediately called AMEX but I was told that it is pending and I need for it to post before I can dispute it. I then write Makes you fluent and told them that I did not authorize the charge and that I only signed up for a one time 6 month subscription. Makes you fluent offered to give me a 30% refund, and I said no, I need my full refund because I did not authorized this charge. I called AMEX and disputed it, Makes you fluent actually answered and somehow provided a terms of agreement that I agree to 6 months auto-renewal. Then I said, if its auto-renewed, how come they did not automatically charged my card on 02/26/2024 which is 6 months from 08/26/2024 from my original signed up. I still have not received any response and its been weeks.
