I (*********************) contacted SOS Anytime Restoration (SOS) on 9/17 due to the discovery of water damage to a downstairs ceiling in my home. At the time of the phone call I was not informed of any fees. ***** and **** arrived on 9/17 as estimators for SOS. They made an assessment of the water damage to the upstairs and downstairs taping off areas they found to be wet. ***** informed me I needed to file a claim with my insurance company immediately and he was on speaker phone with me as I filed the claim. ***** then had me sign a contract agreeing to work with SOS. There was no estimate on the contract and I was informed that I had 72 hours to cancel the contract. I was also told I would be given a copy of the contract which I never received. They then set up two dehumidifiers in my house. I asked them how much I owed SOS for the visit and was told I did not owe them any money. The following morning I decided to not work with SOS and contacted **** and ***** asking them to cancel the contract, and to remove the dehumidifiers. I asked again if there was a charge for having the dehumidifiers and was informed that a bill would be sent to be via email. The dehumidifiers were removed from my house on 9/18 by SOS. On 9/27 I received a bill for $ ********. I am currently working with a different water restoration company. When I contacted them to initially come to make an assessment I was informed there was no charge for an assessment, which they have held true to. I also spoke with my insurance adjustor who stated a company should not charge to come out and make an assessment and provide an estimate. I had my husband call SOS Anytime on 9/28 and inquire how much they charge to come to a residence make an assessment and create an estimate, he was informed that SOS did not charge for this service. From the invoice I was sent I am willing to pay the $86.80 for 24 hours of dehumidifier usage and $322.60 for the emergency service call after business hours.
