I recently (18 Apr 2024) stayed at the Super 8 in Susanville and to be fair the stay was fine. The experience soured after checkout upon seeing an unexpected $63 charge on my credit card. I called the hotel and spoke to the Manager who immediately claimed I stole two pillows and that I was charged for it. He gave me no benefit of the doubt or entertained any other possibilities for the missing pillows. He repeatedly accused me of stealing the pillows and was not willing to listen to denials on my part. He stated that he and two other individuals verified that the pillows were missing but could not tell me who verified they were there when the room was prepared. We checked out on April 19th sometime after 8:30 AM. My credit card company stated that the charge for $63.35 was posted at 7:04 AM before we checked out. So there is obviously something very shady going on here. I am a US Army retiree and I have never been accused of stealing anything in my life and I certainly would not compromise my integrity over two used budget hotel pillows. Upon receiving my written complaint someone at the hotel reversed the charge but did not acknowledge much less address this atrocious customer service. If you choose to stay here, I recommend you photograph the contents of your room upon check in so they dont attempt to make up for their shortfalls on your back like they did to me.
