Upon changing the drive oil on my boat outdrive, the first week of July, I realized that water mixed in with my ***. I took the oil to Temecula Speed and Marine and met ****, the owner. I was advised to replace parts on my outdrive of my boat before he even looked and without even seeing the parts of my outdrive yet. I was told it needed all new bearings which I paid $1,178.21, July 12, 2023, upfront with my credit card. After a month passes and constant traveling back and forth to his shop, still no parts or communication. I went to the Temecula Marine every week and was told each time that the parts are still on order. I went there again Friday Aug.4 and the electricity had been shut off for not paying his bill.Then while waiting to speak with ****, he angrily accused me of trying to get the work done on my outdrive for nothing. He started yelling at me and so I left, later to bring back all the parts and I advised **** that I had put a stop on the payment for the parts, He then said He would complete the repair on the outdrive for an extra 400 dollars, and to bring my entire outdrive to him to complete the work needed. My bank had already processed the dispute. **** realizes the credit card dispute occurred he called me up screaming and threatening. All I ask is for the work to be completed as agreed and I will gladly pay the balance stated and agreed upon. I want a completed itemized list of the parts and Labor. I have asked **** to put the repair order in writing and he refuses. The parts were readily available from other vendors but I trusted the man for his word, which I now regret. **** called me yesterday Thursday Aug.10, 2023, he was threatening me that he would sell my outdrive to someone else, and stated he already has a buyer. I asked him repeatedly to finish the work and return my outdrive to me. I realized all the very bad 1 star Yelp reviews later, and noticed this is how this man operates his business. I am hoping BBB can step in and help me resolve this issueBusiness response

Mr ************; came in the first time ask me about the drive and what he should do
I told him to take it apart and replace all the bearings and seals
or he could buy a drive from a after market company or rebuild his
he elected to rebuild his I told him it takes special tools
I saw that when he came in a second time he broke the spanner nut on the upper he said it was that way not true
we ordered the parts the I did not have in stock from mercury marine / with parts delays with the mercury move it does take longer than normal letter enclosed in the pdf
He kept trying to make me do work for free and I told him that then he tried to return the parts he had every parts the back ordered that were on my desk
he stopped payment and brought me the drive did take it apart and removed and pressed on all the bearing and installed the sealed when we were putting the drive together we noticed the lower was cracked that was Tuesday he came and look at the lower I told him I had some used lower to help him out on Wednesday he charged back his card the parts at the time are no longer his and are mine at that point
I had time now invested installing on the shafts and case at that point i leaned the parts he came in my shop with another person and grabbed his cases and ran out I caught him and he drove away the police pulled him over and made him pay me for the charged back and $200 labor he also advised him that when he stopped payment the the repairs are now canceled
then he was saying that I was not working on the drive that I a lie I had a store full of workers that day they all told me this guy was trying to get something for free Including me customers lawyer that was in my office eating lunch with us
He is mad because he cant do it on his own
I did nothing wrong we do not work for free he was trying to so
there was no work order for the drive rebuild the police were ready to arrest him on a charge of to defraud the end user he could of went to jail he even argued with the officer

My Mercury Marine rep told him about the parts problems It Is a nightmare for Dealers ****** now he told him he did not care
***** got all of his parts the police and him agreed to the he signed enclosed pdf
when he stopped payment and took his drive out of my shop I will no longer work and or sell ***** parts
I spent time with ***** looking up parts and letting him know what to do and everything I order is mercury products not after market copy of some of the order in in the pdf file
with the agreement the we both signed
