A few years ago, I had my ring cut off by La Masters jewelry. When the older gentleman cut my ring off, one of the stones fell out of the milligrain setting, he told me not to worry about it when I come back to get it resized the repair is included in the resizing. I am a nurse. I dont wear my ring so it took me a long time to take it back in to get resized. When I finally brought it in a couple weeks ago they gave me an estimate for resizing , replanting & repair of the area that had broken when they cut it off. I paid 1/2 upfront , balance due when the ring was ready, which they stated would take about a month and they do everything in house. Approximately a week and a half ago I asked my husband to call and check on my ring and they told him that it would be done by the 15th most likely which is over a week earlier than expected so I was pretty excited to get my ring back. Yesterday I received a text from *** stating they had been trying to get a hold of me. I had no missed calls or voicemails prior to this at all. Her text stated that in order to repair my ring correctly the jeweler recommends a total remaking of the ring for $1700. I called to follow up on this text and she stated while they were cleaning the ring and heated it up and the small crack got bigger and it broke. They were asking me for 20 something dollars extra to repair that and stated that, the ring wouldnt be structurally sound unless I paid $1700 to get it reworked. If I just wanted to pay the original estimate of $300 they would do the best they could to make it look the same as the other side, but that it wouldnt be structurally sound. I told *** that it seemed crazy to that they broke my ring (both ****** ***** cant repair it properly as quoted due to this new damage they did when cleaning my ring. She stated they would take off the $26 since they did the damage & asked me how I would like to proceed. I said I would have to call back. I chose them because I live in their old house.
