I visited Carbon Health Urgent Care on October 28, 2022. It was a routine visit for a cold; I am a covered patient through Blue Shield. The office miscoded me as "out of network" although I had visited several other times. They then billed me the full amount of the visit. I worked with my insurer to correct the provider's errors. The insurer paid the amount due as part of their coverage with Carbon. Carbon received and cashed the check, and then proceeded to DIRECTLY WITHDRAW from my account another $42.94 claiming it was the balance, which is false. They were paid in full and I paid my $20 co-pay at the time of the visit. They were contacted by both myself and our insurer and have since said they were refunding $37.94, which is not the full amount they stole from my account. I haven't seen any of the money yet but expect a FULL, not a partial refund. Apparently this company uses highly unethical and fraudulent billing practices, and I am sick of this behavior from medical accounting firms. It's rampant and needs to be stopped. Carbon has never admitted their error, has used deflecting and stall tactics to avoid repayment, and now are withholding money from the refund. Carbon has only responded to the insurer, never apologizing to myself for their errors and bad practices. This is an unethical company that has no qualms about ripping off their patients.
