    On April 7, 2023, BBB requested Litigation Practice Group to modify, substantiate, or discontinue claims made on their website (https://lpglaw.com/) that read, “there’s a dedicated team of attorneys for every legal matter.” Advertisers must be prepared to substantiate such claims per BBB's Code of Advertising.

    BBB's Code of Advertising Section 1 Basic Principles of the Code requires that advertisers should be prepared to substantiate any objective claims or offers made before publication or broadcast. Upon request, they should present such substantiation promptly to the advertising medium or BBB. Advertisements that are untrue, misleading, deceptive, fraudulent, falsely disparaging of competitors, or insincere offers to sell, shall not be used.

    On 03/20/2023, the business filed for reorganization under Chapter 11 of the federal Bankruptcy Act, case# 8:23-bk-10571-SC. This permits the business to continue to operate with court supervision while developing a plan of reorganization. Those with monetary claims against the business are advised to obtain a Proof of Claim form by writing to United States Bankruptcy Court Central District of California 411 West Fourth Street, Suite 2030 Santa Ana CA 92701 for resubmission to that court. The case number should be entered on the form.

    Pattern of Complaint

    BBB files indicate that this business has a pattern of complaints. Specifically, consumer complaints allege in their complaints to BBB that the business is not responsive to their calls and emails. Furthermore, consumers allege that when they are promised a call back, they do not receive one. On February 15, 2023, BBB submitted a written request to the business encouraging them to address the pattern of complaints.

     

    On March 1, 2023, the business responded to BBB's letter outlining the pattern of complaints with their plans to eliminate the pattern by working with their legal team to ensure complaints are handled in a timely manner. Furthermore, the business acknowledges that there was an issue with their payment processor which resulted in a legal case filing. The business has since then moved forward with different payment processors and are implementing protocols with their accounting department to expedite all refunds. 

     

    On March 20, 2023, the business filed Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. BBB continues to closely monitor consumer reports on this business.

    In April 2023, BBB investigated Litigation Practice Group's business practices. This investigation was prompted by the volume of complaints, inquiries, and scam tracker reports received by BBB. Consumers alleged in their reports to BBB that the business transfers consumers' accounts to other companies without giving consumers proper notice, or failing to inform them on how to get in touch with their new account holders; the business fails to fulfill the promised refund request or/and fails to communicate the status to consumers; the business fails to provide a current balance sheet and explain unauthorized charges to consumers when requested.


    On April 7, 2023, BBB sent the company a Business Practice Inquiry by email to request the following information:
    -Provide a list of all businesses Litigation Practice Group accounts are being transferred to;
    -The cause for delays in responding to consumer inquiries;
    -Details on a current refund policy and cause for delays;
    -Provide a list of all Principals/Stakeholders associated with the business;


    On April 10, 2023, the business called BBB and stated they are no longer operational but are responding to complaints and refunding what consumers they can. BBB asked the business for an official response to the Business Practice Inquiry. The business then asked for additional time to respond.

    Through an investigation, BBB also found that the business filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy on March 20, 2023.
