We bought a used 2021 Chevrolet Bolt from Mountain View Chevrolet in Upland. Before the purchase we were told numerous times that the car would charge to the full range of 250 miles. We asked them several times to charge it and the stalled until it was too late to see it fully charged. They told us the battery is under warranty if there are any problems. When we got home, we found that it will only charge to 80%. I called the service department and they said that this is due to a software adjustment to the battery by GM that restricts the car to 80% charge until it reaches ******. The dealership had all this information and did not disclose it to us.

I sincerely apologize you are not completely satisfied with your purchase. I want to assure you that the vehicle's battery charge will return to 100%. New advanced diagnostic software that will continually monitor the high voltage battery in your vehicle was installed by a certified dealer. If the software detects a problem in your vehicles high voltage battery, you will be alerted via a warning in the driver information center. If this occurs, you should contact us to have the affected high voltage battery module replaced.
The software will initially limit your vehicles high voltage battery to a maximum state-of-charge of 80%. If no anomalies are detected after approximately ***** miles (****** km) of use, the high voltage battery will automatically return to a maximum state-of-charge of 100% without a return trip to the dealer. After this occurs, the softwares advanced diagnostics will continue to monitor your vehicles high voltage battery system.

Please feel free to contact me during normal business hours and I would be happy to discuss the software with you. Thank you.

I am rejecting this response because: We found out everything they state In their response after the sale. My issue is regarding the lies. They said the car would fully charged when we got home. They also told us that the battery is under warranty to get us to stop asking about demonstrating the charge. The #Warranty does nothing to address the fact that the car will not fully charge for about 6000 more miles. This represents about six months of driving and is a very big inconvenience. Its galling to remember how they kept stalling when we asked them to Plug the car in so we could see the charge.  When we mentioned these lies to the management, they ducked responsibility, saying they werent the ones that had those conversations, Leaving the blame on the sales person. It doesnt matter who at the dealership lies  Its all on the dealership. We should have walked out. ****** learned. this dealership is very dishonest

On behalf of Mountain View Chevrolet, I apologize you are having issues with the vehicle. I would like to have the vehicle brought in and we can perform a diagnosis at no cost to you. If necessary, would it be possible to go on a road test with you to duplicate the concern? My number one priority is getting this issue resolved. I look forward to hearing from you.

Mountain View Chevrolet stole my identity. Not only did they steal my identity, but they unjustly enriched themselves at my expense. Meanwhile I went through the emotional pain and suffering caused by their crimes. They ignored me when I tried to bring these unjust acts to their attention. Now I am at their mercy and teetering on financial ruin behind their criminal actions. I am not asking for any special treatment. I am just asking for my rights to be restored as outlined by Congress in the Truth and Lending Act. Accident Insurance for the Vehicle was supposed to be included in the finance charge by Mountain View Chevrolet. This is not my personal preference or something I was promised by the dealer. This is Federal Law as outlined in 12 CFR Part 1026.4(b)5 and 15 U.S. Code § 1605. The fact that this wasn’t included in the contract constitutes Identity Theft yet again. Mountain View Chevrolet violated federal law when they required and took a down payment on the vehicle from me. Congress enacted the Truth and Lending Act to protect consumers from businesses like Mountain View Chevrolet who willfully violate 15 U.S. Code § 1662(b) and take down payments which are not required to finance any vehicle. Not only are they not required. But they are illegal, because a consumer credit transaction must be all credit. If it isn’t all credit it must be done in all cash. You cannot commingle the two. This is the law Congress wrote, not my personal opinion. Mountain View Chevrolet intentionally misrepresented the Finance charge on my Vehicle. The definition of a Finance Charge is the sum of all Charges. So if the total sales price of my Vehicle was over $80,000 - then how could the finance charge be merely $16,000? The answer is that it cannot be unless Identity Theft and fraud is taking place. With a mistake that big and all of the other fraudulent actions that took place during this transaction, I am left only to believe this was Identity Theft taking place.

I’ve purchased a jeep wrangler from this dealership on November 2022. As soon as the vehicle was brought home, issues have started to come up on the car. So far, I have spent $850 on repairs.I have all the documents and forms for the repair done. It doesn’t end there unfortunately. The car has thrown multiple check engine codes. I’ve contacted this dealership that I purchased the vehicle from to find a solution and still have found NONE. I was told that this is my problem. They won’t do anything about this issue because this is my problem. The car was at the repair shop again and I received at $2900 repair charge for valve seals and engine work that needs to be done. I’ve tried and tried to find a solution and found none. **** ******* was one of the sales advisors that was very unprofessional. I am still on the first month for payments and all these repairs are amounting to very costly repairs.

Also, I talked to our service manager and he offered **** to check his vehicle for free and see if he can help him with the issue but he refused to bring it to our location and requested that he take it to another dealer.

On October 7 2021, I took my 2011 Silverado to Mountain View Chevrolet for an oil change. I was then notified of a recall on the vehicle and **** *******( service advisor) suggested to take care of it the same day. Recall was air bag inflators. I didn’t get any call from the dealership in regards to the car being ready or not, so I headed to the dealership to inquire, **** ******* told me they broke the dashboard while prying it open to replace the inflator, I asked if they were supposed to pry it open or remove it, maybe trying to do a shortcut they pried it open instead of removing it. The dashboard wasn’t broken before, there is a big hole in the middle now. When asking **** if the dealership was taking care of it, he answered that he was going to talk to management and get back to me.I haven’t heard anything back, please help me to get my dashboard fixed. ***** ******* *** *** ****

In response to BBB complaint 163**318, Mr. ******* was informed of the cracked dashboard which was noted on the repair order (attached).  Also that if there are damage(s) to the dashboard that it would not be covered due to age and environmental exposure to the dashboard.  The technician did not pry open the dashboard, he followed the procedure to remove the inflator which is through the glovebox, unfortunately due to the prior cracks, the dashboard was damaged.  Mr. ******* did speak with the Service Manager and the Service Manager did submit for a request to cover the dashboard, however, it was rejected by the manufacture.  He then tried other avenues to help Mr. ******* with the situation.  Upon checking for the status, we were informed the request to replace the dashboard has been approved.  We will contact Mr. ******* to set up a time to get the matter resolved.

I have been trying to get a GAP insurance refund for the last three months and Mountain View Chevrolet is not handling it. I have filled out and submitted the reimbursement form over two months ago, called them four times, spoke once to a woman in the finance office, who stated she would look into it and call me back, and still nothing.

      Business response

      09/08/2021

Ms. ****** actually did speak with one of our Finance Manager that explained the process of cancellation of Gap insurance and try to assist her, however,  Ms. ****** had already submitted the cancellation directly to the Gap company which may have delayed the process.  Per the Finance Manager, she called Ms. ****** to request if Ms. ****** could e-mail or fax the proof of payoff so she could get the office to submit the refund, however, Ms.****** refused to send it to her at that time,  nonetheless, the finance manager did receive the lien release on September 2, 2021 which she forward to the office.  As of today, the office has received notification from the Gap company and the refund check should be going out this week.
