Email sent on October 4, 2022 to the manager after being refused a refund over the phone from the Upland gym's manager, ********: "I recently re-joined the membership program this month primarily at the Upland gym. I would like to request my membership canceled and this month’s fee refunded, due to safety concerns. I will no longer be attending this gym. When I called the gym to speak to the manager there this morning at 10:30am, I was told this email was the only way I could submit a refund request. I was in yesterday night for some climbing before closing, and there were two incidences near me where belay teams had an accident causing both people on the same rope to suddenly ascend and hit each other on the way up. The team of associates for that night did not seem concerned with the situations either time, while both pairs of climbers involved in the accidents were visibly spooked. Due to the lack of concern for others safety, as well as the fact that I was near the incidents both times, I’d like to request a refund and cancellation of my membership since I won’t be attending this gym any longer. I understand refunds are given only for specific circumstances, as explained to me over the phone this morning, and I hope this circumstance is taken into consideration since it deals with safety risk. Thank you." The monthly fee is $44, as stated in the attached PDF. After talking to managers at several of the Hangar 18 locations, I've been told the only person able to refund me is the Upland manager, who has refused over the phone call I had with her this morning at around 10:30am.
