I would not pay several hundred dollars for help or coaching on a resume from this business. I was able to obtain a much better resume that articulated skills and experience in a more clear and impactful way from a free, nonprofit veteran group. Additionally, the nonprofit veteran group, that helped for free, developed the resume faster, when I was pressed on finding employment. The nonprofit veteran rep understood that I couldnt have a strictly chronological format, due to personal circumstances. This business that I paid (when I was without a permanent job) didnt accept that reality and also didnt ask many questions about my actual professional goals. By contrast, the free service tailored the resume to my goals, without assuming I wanted to be a program manager, when I was aiming for state or nonprofit work, or analytical positions. Paying this business slowed down my search and also didnt help. The free nonprofit group resume, by contrast, really helped me in the search, and I am using that free resume. Job searching when you dont have a permanent job is hard enough.

Im shocked by your complaint to the BBB, and even more surprised by the statements that you made which were not true. You were fully engaged with my services, it seems up until someone at the ******************* convinced you that they were right and I was wrong in my approach to the development of the resume. Its all a matter of perspective, based upon our respective experiences. If you review the recommendations on my LinkedIn page, you will see that my clients are very happy with the results and success that they have experienced through my services. You happen to be an individual with lots of experience, and all I was trying to do was to create an achievement-based resume that demonstrates your contributions to the growth and competitive advantages of the company. Unfortunately, you stated that you dont have any achievements to list on your resume. That seems odd to me. The original resume that I received also brands you as a Program Manager, and the jobs are listed in chronological order. For clarity, Id like to address your specific points here that you included in your claim to the BBB: I would not pay several hundred dollars for help or coaching on a resume from this business. I was able to obtain a much better resume that articulated skills and experience in a more clear and impactful way from a free, nonprofit veteran group.?I would agree that you should always have your resume written for free when you can, however, keep in mind that this is the business model for the Hiring Heros veterans group, and they receive grants to support their objectives. They still get paid to write your resume, but they receive their money from donors and government grants. Its not being done for free Its only free to you, as a Veteran. Additionally, the nonprofit veteran group, that helped for free, developed the resume faster, when I was pressed on finding employment.?I was very attentive to your needs. You needed to delay the exchange because of a gang-related shooting in your building and you needed to find a new apartment. I had nothing to do with this.?Additionally, you were not able to review and return your feedback right away because you were working and would not be able to review it until you were off work. The nonprofit veteran rep understood that I couldnt have a strictly chronological format, due to personal circumstances.?The original resume that you sent to me was in chronological order, but only listed jobs and dates of employment. Only tasks were listed - No achievements. There is a big difference.?The Hiring Heros resume is still a chronological resume, with one exception The first page identifies the two primary companies that you worked for, the **** ****************** and **************** of ******** Affairs, ************* and they state what you did in each role, but not what you achieved in each capacity.?An example of a functional resume would be the original 5-page resume that you sent to me that has specific disciplines listed as functional experience (e.g. ********************************* Communications, Planning etc), but it still flows into a chronological resume on the second page. This business that I paid (when I was without a permanent job) didnt accept that reality and also didnt ask many questions about my actual professional goals. By contrast, the free service tailored the resume to my goals, without assuming I wanted to be a program manager, when I was aiming for state or nonprofit work, or analytical positions.?We both invested a lot of time in our initial call and exchanged emails and phone calls with edits on the resume in which you stated several times that you were grateful for my help.?The fact that you are aiming for state, nonprofit or analytical work further reflects that you are experiencing an identity crisis and have no focus on your career goals.?To say that you were without a permanent job is a play on words and was by your choice. You have been very intentional, as stated in your emails, that you were resigning certain roles and only engaging as a contractor in other cases.?Not true - Your original resume has you titled as a "Program Manager" and after lots of discussion, you decided that you wanted to pursue a "Business Analyst" role, so I crafted the latest version of your resume to accommodate that objective. Paying this business slowed down my search and also didnt help. The free nonprofit group resume, by contrast, really helped me in the search, and I am using that free resume.?Any delays were the result of you needing to review the resume after work (because you were working) in addition to delays because you needed to find a safe place to live due to the gang-related shooting in your apartment complex. Job searching when you dont have a permanent job is hard enough.?You chose to engage in part-time (not permanent) work and again, stated in your emails, that you were resigning certain roles and only engaging as a contractor in other cases. In closing, I am still happy to support your efforts as I am grateful for your military service and want to do what I can to help you succeed in this journey.
