Gallego's is asking me to pay without work/labor. If the plumbing company Gallego's performed plumbing job, I am happy to pay the invoice.

The charges she was sent was for diagnostic. Owner was to provide a new kitchen faucet and then call us back to install the new one. We never received a call from her to do the kitchen faucet replacement so I’m unsure if she needs assistance or not. The invoice that has been sent to her would get credited towards the kitchen faucet replacement which she’s yet to call and schedule.

Hi J****, did you still need your kitchen faucet replaced? We came out and diagnosed that the faucet needs replacement. You were to go buy a new one and call us when you had the new one on site to install. We have not heard from you. I have reached out via text and call multiple times to try and schedule the work but you do not respond… the charges at this point is the diagnosing fee which will be credited towards the replacement.

I accepted a 10/22/22 estimate from Gallegos Plumbing for $3,750 for a bathroom remodel. I contracted with them because I worked with them in the past and was pleased with their work. The above estimate reflects the scope of the work: I wanted to switch the placement of a pedestal sink and a toilet to make the bathroom appear more spacious, aesthetic and comfortable. The estimate made it clear I would be keeping my original bath fixtures-- tub, toilet, sink. Their work began with jackhammering the floor to relocate the toilet. A long stretch of time between the first phase of plumbing and the final phase was due to scheduling conflicts with other workers as well as my own time constraints. When the tile installer returned he laid out a heated floor and commented that the floor wasn't level. I thought it was because the house was old. Even the electrician and the drywall installer commented on the uneven floor. It turns out that after the jackhammering was completed, the floor was replaced, it was never leveled, and it slopes downward from the back wall to the door. What is worse, the toilet I wanted to use has a 10 inch rough but the new toilet hole was made for a 12 inch rough in. When I saw my original toilet installed, it was far from the wall, something that had never been the case. I asked the plumber why he didn't check the original toilet rough in? He told me he did not know I was using my original toilet and that a 12 inch rough in is standard. If I want the toilet closer to the wall I would have to buy a new one. So I bought one with a 12 inch rough in, but that was far from the wall, and sloping downward too. Now I'm billed for extra work and tasked with finding a toilet to suit their poor planning and construction. All this is characterized as my fault: I made changes, I don’t know what I want, and everything they did is perfectly standard. I have paid them $4,045, and owe $309.50, and I'll be billed an unspecified amount once I find the perfect toilet.

I have reached out to you via email to solve this matter. I am sorry we did not get all the information we needed to get this correct the first time. I highly highly recommend in the future if you decide to do anymore construction projects to hire a general contractor to help you get all the coordinating and small but very important details established before/during the duration of your project. Never was it discussed the reason for your project about creating a better layout and make it feel more spacious, in fact originally you weren’t even moving the toilet location, then when I came back out over 2 years later to re-quote you decided to swap toilet and sink location, then mid project you moved the sink location onto an entirely different wall than originally quoted, when charging for the extra work of doing so you complained about that cost as well. Don’t you worry, we’ll pick up the pieces from this project so you are happy with the final results because in the end customer is always right….

I am rejecting this response because: I've never in my life written a bad review or submitted a formal complaint against any contractor for any work on any home my late husband and I have ever lived in in the past 40 years, regardless of whether we were happy or unhappy with the results. This is different because the details written out in the estimate is not what Gallegos Plumbing delivered. Furthermore, correcting the problem is not that simple since a radiant heated floor was installed under the tile. Since there is no middle option, I have no choice but to reject this response because it questions my motives for undertaking a bath remodel and maligns my competency. The contractor and I need to get on the same page regarding what I paid for and what is now the currant state of the bathroom. I truly believe this is a problem of poor communication within the company that has resulted in an unfortunate conflict between me and the owner of Gallegos Plumbing.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 18597816, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. I would like to clarify that I do not want to incur any more costs and hope this is agreeable; and that all fixtures associated with this remodel are installed properly for both function and appearance.
