Paid Rentvillas.com $1,610 on 11\19\19 for a villa rental in Italy (Casa Berto) for Sept. 29-Oct 6, 2020. Because of Covid shutdown in Italy, postponed to 2021. Due to continuing Covid protocols, contacted Rent Villas for an additional postponement to Oct 2022; said Casa Berto required an additional $165. Paid 8/17/21. Two months prior to departure, received email from Kevin Pidduck, Co-founder, CTO and CEO of Rent Villas on 8/2/22 that due to Covid costs to company, had not made required payments to Casa Berto and if we wished to keep reservation, would need to pay for the stay directly to them. This, despite Rent Villas holding onto our payments for nearly 2 years. Mr. Pidduck was confident, however, that we could make a chargeback request through Mastercard and recover our payments. We filed the necessary paperwork with MC by letter on 8/4/22 and on 8/27/22 paid for the reservation a second time, directly to Casa Berto, expecting a refund on the credit card. MC informed us in October while on the trip that they declined the chargeback given the original payment was nearly two years prior. 10/13/22 we informed Mr. Pidduck by email of Mastercard's decline and asked for reimbursement from Rent Villas for $1775. On 10/27 he replied that they were "extremely sorry" for the situation and "currently progressing with an asset sale of which proceeds will go towards satisfying the $1,775 we owe you." We sent follow up emails on 11/06, 11/18, 12/01, and 12/27 asking for a timeline for payment. On 12/28, recieived email notice that the address was now non-deliverable; assuming Mr. Pidduck shut down the account.
