I filed my taxes with ************************* from this company. She told us our taxes would be $12k when we first went to her. When she filed our extension she said she messed up and it will now be $14k. Now after 3 months of no answer back from calls, texts, leaving messages at the office and voicemails, she decided to file our taxes without verifying with us first or having us sign or consent and charged us $16k. This woman is not qualified and is an outright scam. We are being outed $4k more than we originally agreed to pay without our consent.Business response

These clients made an appointment with me on 3/12/24 unfortunately when I originally started doing their taxes they owed 12k. Copies were sent to both husband and wife on 3/13/24. An extension was requested as they were figuring out funding.
When finalizing their taxes on 4/14/24 there was an additional 1099 a cancellation of debt, unfortunately once that was added in their taxes it changed what they owed to 14k.
I had most of my communication with the husband, *****. He knew of the changes and he knew of a software issue. He came into the office and I showed him the issue. The software company was working on it. ***** asked when the taxes would be filed I told him it is stuck in transmission along with other files. That as soon as the software company resolved the issue it would be 24 to 48 hours. ***** was ok with that. I was out of the office in bereavement for a few weeks. **** came into the office and requested to see me, I was it there. It was then we realized ***** and **** had not been communicating. I did my best and gave them other avenues to help with their tax situation, but by that point she was angry leaving threatening text messages, emails and bad ****** reviews. I profusely apologized for the inconveniences and miscommunications. Approval for the efile was already given prior to the te technical issues. The taxes were already in transmission and could not be undone.
I got the bbb mail from the restaurant Nextdoor. It said second notice. I was not aware of the first one. When a colleague called **** today to resolve the issue **** informed her they had not paid for the services (aka tax returns) rendered. In the 22 years of service I have not had any complaints on my performance and customer service.
