I hired this company to repair my asphalt driveway. When they were first arriving my husband was at the bottom of the hill waiting for the truck with all of the equipment to move so he could pull the truck out. He watched the truck hit our gate key pad when attempting to maneuver the truck. My husband went up to him to let him know he hit the key pad and pointed to the key pad. The man in the truck told him to "talk to his boss". I immedately sent a text to the person I contracted with informing him that it was hit. He immedately said he had not hit anything. I told him it was one of his workers. He then stated the worker did not even come down the driveway. I showed him the video then the story changed to he was turning around but did not hit the keypad. I pushed it a little and you could see that at the bottom it was rusted yet now it had a complete break and was no longer secured. I told him it was not like that last night when I arrived home because I used it. He then added to the story that he pushed on it when he got here and it was loose already. There was no reason for him to even touch the key pad since the gate was open so that was not the truth plus there was nothing showing him stopping at the keypad. After our back and forth conversation I informed him I am not asking him to replace the entire keypad just figure out how to stabilize the bottom so that it would not fall over. He agreed to do so. He finished the driveway job and came for payment. I asked if he had fixed it and he said no. He was not going to do it. I told him that we had agreed and I was very disappointed. I paid him the total amount he asked for the driveway job I hired him for yet I want him to cover the expense to have this fixed. I gave him the opportunity to fix it himself and he just failed to follow through.
