4/16/2022 Dears Sirs,I am writing this letter to make a formal complaint regarding ***************************** owner/ contractor of Pacific Power Company who was referred to me from the Generac residential home standby generator purchase website as a bone fide contractor for sales, installation and service of residential Generac home generators. But, his work and service was and is both incompetent and negligent.I met with **** for the first time in September of 2021. I signed his contract which involved a 3 part payment: 1-deposit, 2-after installation and final 3-after obtaining permit from the County. After building a new concrete retaining wall / pad and sound insulation fencing **** then revealed to me that I would not be able to obtain a permit from Oakland County for various reasons including that the County is going green and perhaps because he miscalculated the minimum distance requirement between homes for a permit to be issued. Yesterday, I received a $1178.44 **** from the local electrical carrier PGE for excess electrical use over the last 12 months. As it turns out, since the day the electrical work was done in mid November 2021 our solar had been turned off by Todds subcontracted electrician and so no electrical from our solar was fed into the grid. Of course **** has not answered my email or phone message when I attempted to contact him about this and the electrician did come by the house today and acknowledged he had failed to turn the solar back on.Further, it has come to my attention the supposed weekly 2 minute auto runs are not happening. I contacted **** by phone and email 2 weeks ago and he has not responded to this request for a check up.

      This complaint is unfounded

First of all, we have performed about 300 installations just like this one without a formal complaint. This installation was efficient and performed exactly as it should have. Incompetence is clearly not an accurate description of the work. We delivered, installed, and tested the generator without any issues. He shouldn't have any complaints about the actual work. In addition, he hired my electrical contractor to perform additional work at his home. I don't think he would hire them if they are incompetent and negligent?

Recently, I had some electrical work done at my vacation home. About a week later, I noticed that my solar was not working. It turns out that the solar inverter did not reset after the work was done. Once reset, the solar was restored to the grid. I did lose a week of solar production that cost me $100 or so. The electrician did not break anything or do anything deemed negligent or incompetent.. This is most likely what happened to ************************************. I did not blame the electricians or file a complaint. Maybe they could have checked the inverter but I should have made sure the solar was working properly after the work was done.

During our work at *** Moultaon-BArret's home, we did not break anything or cause any damage.
Worst case- we were not completely thorough and did not test his solar after the work was performed. My contractors don't necessarily know how to test the solar so we rely on the homeowner.

The solar just needed to be reset after our work was performed. It seems that he did not look at his solar output for several months and found out he was missing $1100 worth of production. Although it's unfortunate, it was not a glaring mistake on our part.
In response to this, we will offer to repay his lost production and we will add a 'solar check' to our installation procedure.

As for the permitting. We produced the proper application and plans and submitted to the *************** for processing.  The process takes 3-6 weeks to get an initial response and they are notoriously difficult to work with. ************************************ decided that he couldn't wait for the response and started the installation early. ******* came back and said that they will not approve the installation as-is (through no fault of our own).

Bottomline- We were not negilegent nor incompetent in this job. We are willing to pay for the lost solar production of $1178.44 and add an additional check to our procedures.

      Complaint: 17048931

I am rejecting this response because: the contractor is clearly dishonest. He sold the unit stating I would be receiving a permit from the County-false, he recommended that I purchase a ********** to reduce noise, but failed to tell me it would void the Generac Warranty, he failed to return my emails and voice messages to help me verify that the unit was undergoing automated weekly 2 minute runs to keep the gas line patent, he refused to accept that his electrician failed to turn back the solar switch back on after the work was complete and blamed his client for not checking. I would not recommend this contractor and if I had time I would report him to the Board for his willful neglect and fraudulent behavior.

      Sincerely,

      ************************************
