On September 27, 2021, I purchased $**** of what I believed to be just one month of Spotify promotion by AMW (AMWorldgroup.com). This was done through PayPal on behalf of my friend who was present with me at the time of the purchase. At no time prior to the purchase was I made aware in any way shape or form that the $**** was actually an initial recurring payment until cancellation. Only after the purchase was made did AMW make any effort to inform me that the purchase was part of a recurring monthly payment. I did not become aware that my $**** purchase was a monthly recurring purchase until I was charged again on October 27, 2021 for $****.PayPal refuses to investigate recurring charge complaints, despite the fact AMW did not disclose the recurring charge fact prior to purchase. AMW has offered $**** worth of other services but refuses to refund. I believe this PayPal loophole in not investigating recurring purchases is being exploited on behalf of the company and to the demise of the consumer. Essentially, what these two companies are saying is that they can lure a client into making a purchase without notifying them prior to the purchase that it will be a recurring charge. The companies are then trying to make it the consumer's responsibility to figure it out after the purchase as if we always read our emails or available to read are emails. It is my position that the company should have notified me prior to the purchase that it would be a recurring charge, not after. I want a full refund of $****, PayPal to fully investigate complaints against companies that charge consumers without prior notification of a recurring charge before the purchase, for PayPal to notify the customer that clicking the payment button will result in a recurring charge, and for AMW to make it clear and concise that it would be a recurring charge prior to the consumer making the purchase. I also want an apology from both PayPal and AMW for not clearing up this issue immediately.
