I am writing to file a formal complaint against Soho House regarding issues I have encountered with my membership. I believe that the company has engaged in unjust and unfair business practices. The details of my complaint are as follows:- I initiated communication with Soho House on November 22, 2022, expressing my inability to afford the $1,000 quarterly membership fee.- Soho House responded a week later, suggesting that I convert my membership to a Soho Friends membership for 12 months, with an annual fee of $130.- On November 30, 2023, I received a membership processing "reminder," to which I promptly responded, expressing my confusion and indicating that I did not want the membership to be active.- Soho House responded on December 3, 2023, stating that due to the 12-month commitment, they are unable to cancel my membership and that cancellation could only be processed at my renewal date on February 28, 2024.Soho House has unjustly changed my renewal date. My membership started on December 1, 2016, making my renewal date historically on December 1, 2023 annually. Soho House has unilaterally and without justification changed my renewal date to February 28, 2024.There was no prior mention of the Friends membership converting back to a House membership, nor any warning of payment or cancellation implications.Soho House provided a general customer service number that leads to an automated line with no human response. Requests for a manager contact were ignored, and I have been unable to obtain a satisfactory resolution. I am seeking immediate cancellation of my membership, as I believe Soho House has failed to provide clear and transparent information regarding the conversion process and subsequent commitments.
