My name is ****** and *** had a recent issue with a hair extension stylist. Ive been looking for ways to get legal assistance on this and was hoping this could help me out. I went to a salon called the House of Beauty located at ********************************************************************. I went to a girl named ********* who was supposed to do my keratin bonded hair extensions for my engagement party which was on the 29th of July. My appointment was for the 27th at 9:00 a.m. *** services in total wouldve cost me $900. I paid her a $500 deposit on July 7th because she said this fee was to secure my place for the date I chose which was the 27th. So on the 26th she texts me and ends up cancelling on me saying that her grandpa died and she was no longer going to do my hair for the date she promised. I understood her situation and consoled her as well, but I thought Id be getting my deposit back also since she was no longer giving me the services she promised on the date she was supposed to and that I needed it for, keep in mind that she mentioned the deposit was to secure my place in line. So I never got the service on the date that I paid the deposit for. I no longer needed the services since I specifically needed it for the 29th but she refuses to give me back the deposit even though she was the one who cancelled the services on me. *** issue here is that she refuses to give me back the $500 deposit because she said that deposits are non refundable no matter what. Even though she never gave me the services on the date that I needed it for. I was only getting the extensions done for my engagement party which she cancelled. I expected to get my deposit back but she refuses to return it. Ive contacted multiple salons and theyve all mentioned that this is illegal and your deposit should be given back if its the hair stylist themselves that cancelled on you. *** tried to contact ********* multiple times for a documented itemized receipt of our transaction and ages has refused.
