1 starIn April 2023 we hired BTB for a 4-6 week backyard remodel as contracted - demo existing concrete/coping - add pavers- resurface the pool, new coping, gas line and electric outlets. WHAT A COMPLETE MISTAKE! We 100% regret it. Our "4-6 week project" ended up being 10+ weeks and months longer. It was an EMOTIONAL NIGHTMARE. In hindsight they knew little about execution of remodeling pools/backyards. Zero communication to subcontractors, and workers rarely came when scheduled. We continued to be told "Don't worry, Let us make the mistakes." Then the subs would have to come back 2-3 times to fix mistakes, wrong execution, missing parts, faulty plumbing etc. and often their subs wouldn't have the skills to make the adequate corrections. Pavers were installed wrong- leaving haze, new pool plumbing pipes burst, irrigation pipes broken, electrics installed wrong, improper drains, piles of debris were left everywhere for weeks including in the street, improper portopotty placement. BTB policy is to send "runners" to take pictures for the mangers, managers rarely monitored work. BTB makes you pay as stages are STARTED, not upon completion, so when it was clear at week 3 that work was done incorrectly, firing them and finding some other contractor to complete/ fix the work properly was financially impossible, as we had paid the majority of $ already. In the end, after several meetings, the owner ***** asked us to "settle" on an amount to terminate the contract as they were unwilling to re-do all the bad work and we were still unhappy. The termination paper they sent had a GAG ORDER clause that said we were unable to write a review disparaging the company if we settled. I knew THAT IS REALLY A BAD BUSINESS PRACTICE, I refused to sign until the clause was removed. That speaks volumes about this company. We received only a few thousand, and everything will have to be re-done in a few years it was not worth the cost. The 1 star is bc BTB continued talking to us. Pictures on Yelp.Review fromJen A

1 starBTB are not contractors, they contract out work to mostly mediocre (+ a couple of awful) subcontractors, whose own crews are often working beyond their skill level. During renovations, from the office down, we experienced repeated incompetence, miscommunications, multiple shortcuts, delays, + the use of cheap products. Our 3 month project dragged on unnecessarily for 16 months, at which point we were exhausted by their methods + finished with them. Several subsequent professional contractors have confirmed that BTBs work was substandard. *****, non-English speaking electrical crew were left unsupervised: 1 blew a security console, another the low voltage panel to our blinds. Switch plates were not straight or were gouged by screwdrivers. A plumber installed a tankless water heater incorrectly, broke an underground patio pipe, ignored high water pressure, + left 2 fixtures leaking! Drain cleaners spattered thick mud into the new pool. The **** crew wired the house incorrectly: 1 explained they hadnt been told they were converting gas units to heat pumps! Our PM arranged for a carpet-layer to turn up 1 hour before our furniture moving truck! We paid 100s of $ extra to our moving company for their delay. A handyman poured cement mix down a patio drain; he put the next leftover batch into 2 flowerbeds, where it still rests in heavy lumps! BTB sent a terrible locksmith who damaged our front gate further the entire gate had to be reworked by another company. After 7 months, our brand new 20-year mini-pebble pool lining was deteriorating: BTB would not fix this costly error, saying the cause of the breakdown was unknown so, not their responsibility - 5 other contractors all agree the mini-pebble was not blended sufficiently at installation. Our BBQ grill was refurbished but the man mispositioned the ignitor mechanism, which then melted next time the grill was used. Our PM rarely oversaw any work; he appeared after each task and basically scheduled the ensuing repairs!Review fromJared U

5 starsOur contractor, Better Together Builders, did a lot of work (listed below) and they did it on time and within budget. During estimates, we asked to move into our house within about six weeks (end of September) and he said they could do it and they really did pull it off, even despite a handful of change orders! The subcontractors and workers hired by BTB were professional, courteous, hard working and performed at a high level of quality. Most of the patching and painting was so well done that it is very difficult to remember which walls were patched and what anything looked like before, which is the whole point, and feels like magic when you really think about it.Two months of remodeling with Better Together Builders involved: demolition, canceling some plumbing; moving 15 large shelves; removing thirteen old intercoms / security panels; partially remodeling 4 bathroom ceilings including 3 soffit removals and raising an entire ceiling from 7 to 8 feet, and all the related drywall, patching, texture and painting; refinishing 30 cabinets in 5 rooms; electrical work including: installing 2 new ventilation fans & 5 ceiling fans; adding 21 LED lights to 5 ceilings, fixing various electrical problems; preparing and flooring **** square feet with engineered hardwoods, plus a small complex custom hardwood floor design; installing hundreds of feet of baseboards, more painting; putting back 15 shelves; touch **** etc. Almost every room in our house has been transformed. In an ideal world we wouldnt need to worry about small hicc**** but in the real world it is important that BTB showed that they would do right by us, even for small things that needed to be corrected. They gained and retained our trust. If you can hire a contractor as reliable and honest who can deliver exceptional results like Better Together Builders you should count yourself lucky. Every day we look around the house and we are still impressed with what we accomplished together.Review fromJessica D

5 starsVery professional and high quality work. We started out by getting a couple of estimates from better together and one other company, and right away decided to go with Better Together , and we are so glad ************ decision, they really made the experience feel seamless. We renovated our outdated master and guest bath, and could not be happier with the results. Our master feels like a spa.Review fromBrian S

1 starThe experience was a nightmare. On the first day of construction the crew made ****** large cuts through load bearing ceiling joists and wall studs. When confronted, the Project Manager (salesperson) dismissed our concerns as just being part of the remodel process. It took weeks of explaining that the cuts made would undermine the strength of the very structure of our house. Eventually the Job ******* came out and agreed to make the repairs I was requesting that would reinforce the structure up to the code requirements. Unfortunately that was one of only 5 times the ******* was at the site during the entire process. Communication was erratic at best. Workers would show up on Saturday unannounced and then some days no one would show on a weekday. We had contracted (and paid) for a portable toilet be provided but none showed up for weeks. During this time we witnessed workers relieving themselves over the hillside. Trash was allowed to collect for over three weeks until our property looked like a junkyard. The last straw was when we found out the crew had built the shower too large and the vanity would not fit within the space allotted for it. Their solution was to (without asking us) ***** trenches out of the newly painted walls and then forcing the vanity in until it became embedded into the walls. I am still having to make cosmetic fixes to cover up that fiasco. All in all it was a stressful, disappointing and frustrating experience I wish we had never gotten involved with this company .Review fromDenise Richard K

5 starsWe got referred to better together from a coworker for our outdoor remodel. We basically redid everything - turf, concrete driveway, patio and a gorgeous pool with spa. They arrived on time and were very respectful of our space, as we were living on the property during the renovation. Great friendly and professional. When the time comes for future renovations we will definitely hire them again! Highly recommended!Review fromSallieu S

Be Very Careful: A lot of manipulation and attempted bullying. I returned home to a disastrous and incomplete job done on my home. From the beginning ************************* gave me a specific website to select the flooring from, I was told to pick the paint that I would like to be used. On the day that the work was to start I received a call from ************************* stating that the paint I had selected was too expensive and that I should make another selection. The paint had already been selected and then an estimate provided, so there was no need to discuss paint or cost at all. This was the first red flag. The second major issue occurred when ************************* showed up to my home for the second time and stated that additional costs would incur related to the damaged wall closest to where the pipe had burst causing water damage to the wall. The water damage itself was very evident and should have been included in the initial estimate. At this point I told ***** to go ahead and stop. I felt uncomfortable and asked that no work be started. ***** insisted that the work could not be stopped even though no work on the companies part had begun. ***** explained that the flooring had been ordered. I told him that I would pay for the flooring and that he could leave the flooring for me in the garage and I would have another company do the installation. Again, he insisted that it was "too late".Bear in mind no actual demolition had begun. They concluded their job and left me with a leaky pipe. Secondly, the ventilation shutters to room which lead to the outside, had been covered up and were now non-existent. Third, the job itself was incomplete with missing crowning along the floor, between the floor itself and the wall. Fourth, there was still a damaged area of dry wall that was never repaired. Instead it was simply painted over. Fifth, the paint job itself is very poorly; electrical sockets were painted over, and I was dealt dealing with and electrical issue which required meBetter Together Builders
