I've been a publishing member of MusicReports for 5 years. I received statements and ***'s for all music that was uploaded via their spreadsheet up until 2020, when majority of my catalogue disappeared from my account. This is around the same time that my music was used heavily by the *************** and other professional sports brands via clients like Tik Tok, and streamed heavily on ******** Since 2020, I have sent several emails to the MusicReports support team with questions about the disappearance of my catalogue, 3 of them being this year alone. I have even re-uploaded the music. I'm yet to receive a response from support or any agent about my catalogue, while on the other hand I receive emails about statements available with no change to my catalogue. It's a shame and discouraging that a company with such a reputation would lead an unsatisfied client to file a complaint here just for a response.

Music Reports is not a membership organization for music publishers or songwriters; accordingly, there is no contract/agreement between Music Reports and the self-published songwriter to terminate. This self-published songwriter has not hired Music Reports for any services and is therefore not a client of Music Reports. Music Reports offers license administration and royalty accounting services for digital music service clients who are seeking to license the rights to use ******************** on their digital services. From time to time, Music Reports makes license offers available to ******************** publishers on its clients' behalf. Music Reports is not a party to the resulting licenses, and we do not charge any fees or commissions to music rights owners in connection with them.

The statements and Notices of Intent ("NOIs") referred to in this complaint had been provided to the songwriter pursuant to the U.S. Copyright Act, Section 115 blanket compulsory mechanical license. This license pertains to the mechanical publishing rights for audio-only interactive streaming and limited downloads. When the ******************************* ("***") began administering the U.S. Section 115 license, as revised by the ********************** Modernization Act, for music used on digital music services in the United Stated starting on January 1, 2021, Music Reports was no longer able to administer the U.S. Copyright Act, Section 115 blanket compulsory mechanical license. The ***'s administration of the Section 115 blanket compulsory mechanical license is why this person has no longer received statements and NOIs after 2020 from Music Reports. We suggest they contact the *** regarding their statements and NOIs for any usage pursuant to the U.S. Copyright Act, Section 115 blanket compulsory mechanical license.

We have verified that this songwriter's publishing catalogue information is present in our database, and they may contact us at ****************************************** in order to ensure they can manage their publishing catalog information as needed.

I am rejecting this response because:

While my choice of words may have been incorrect in describing my use of Music Reports, the correction of such terms did not address all of my concern.  I now understand the reason for no longer receiving NOI's, which should have been explained in one of many emails I've sent, all to the mentioned email address.  Telling me to email an address that I have never gotten a response from does not address my concern.

      Sincerely,

      ***************************

Music Reports has since reached out to this person via the contact details that they have provided to us in order to assist them with securing updated login information so that they may access the publisher web portal which contains their up to date catalog information. We have determined the reason that they weren't seeing new musical works in their catalog on their web portal that they had submitted (as stated in their initial complaint), because they were accessing an older web portal that was no longer being regularly updated. We have attempted to contact this person to resolve their issue by providing instructions to access their current web portal and how they can update us with their catalog should they have any new material that needs to be processed so that we can ensure our records are up to date. We hope this resolves the issue that triggered this complaint as we have provided all the necessary information to this person to resolve this issue and they now have the information needed to reach out to us directly.

Music Reports *** has owed me $63.16 for over 2 years. I suspect they owe me a lot more for foreign royalties from songs which have been streamed over 7.7 million times over the last 3 years. By not paying me and paying me correctly the are in violations of my copyright rights. When I pointed this out to Music Reports **** they sent me a check for 1 cent. They're policy is they only issue checks after an the customer accumulates $50. They violated their own policy even. Music Reports ***** job is to collect for Compulsory Licensors. They have failed to collect the royalties I hired them to collect and have failed to pay me. I sent them all the tax documents they requested and I have confirmation they received them. I have documents to prove all of this. I even sent a letter to the *** of Music Reports *** and did not receive an answer from anyone. I'm also requesting that Music Reports *** cancel my membership and direct any further Compulsory Licensors to contact me directly. They stated to me that it's too difficult to cancel my membership. I noticed other complaints on this site stating the same thing. Sorry if it's too difficult and you can't swim with the big boys, it time for Music Reports *** to get out of the pool.

Music Reports offers license administration and *************************** for digital music service clients who are seeking to license the rights to use ******************** on their services. Music Reports is not a membership organization for publishers and songwriters, and ************** is not a customer of ******************, and therefore does not have an account to cancel. ************** never hired us to collect royalties on his behalf. There is no contract between ************** and Music Reports.

I am rejecting this response because: Saying I don't have an ACCOUNT with Music Reports is a lie. All associated with Music Reports have ACCOUNT.I have an account with a user name and password. They're suppose to collect royalties for me, but have failed to do so. The owe me $63.16 for over two years. I attached a copy of the royalties accrued from my online ACCOUNT that specifies they owe me $63.16. I also want them to stop collecting royalties on my behalf from my ACCOUNT and also stop them from supplying licensors with my info and acting as an in between and sort of middle man that steals money from artists. I want the licensors to contact me directly from now on. They keep saying I have to accumulate $50 before they will send a check and I have accumulated $63.16, way they're over the amount of $50 specified. Did Music Reports even read the attachments I sent? Does anyone at Music Reports know how to read, answer a phone, answer an email, answer a hand written letter? I DON'T THINK SO. I URGE ANYONE THINKING ABOUT USING MUSIC REPORTS TO COLLECT ROYALTES FOR THEM, THINK TWICE ABOUT NOT HIRING THEM. ****** all the law suits against Music Reports for nonpayment to the artists they're suppose to serve. Also notice who the board of directors and staff and the companies they work/worked for. They have the fox collecting for the hens!!
      Sincerely,

      *******************

To reiterate, Music Reports offers license administration and *************************** for digital music service clients who are seeking to license the rights to use ******************** on their digital services. From time to time, Music Reports makes license offers available to ******************** publishers on its clients' behalf. Music Reports is not a party to the resulting licenses, and we do not charge any fees or commissions to music rights owners in connection with them. Music Reports is not a membership organization for music publishers or songwriters; accordingly, there is no contract between Music Reports and ************** to terminate. ************** has not hired Music Reports for any services.

To administer the licenses between the songwriters/publishers and the digital music service clients that have retained Music Reports license administration and ***************************, Music Reports has created a web portal for publishers and songwriters where they may securely login to their publisher portal via a username and password. The web portal allows songwriters and publishers to manage the publishing share data of their musical works. There is no obligation to use the web portal, and Music Reports does not charge a fee or any commission for the creation of a username and password for songwriters and publishers to login to the web portal. Therefore, while ************** may have access to the web portal where he can download copies of his statements, he is not a customer of ******************.

The $63.16 in royalties ************** referred to is the combined total of accrued royalties from the Amazon Prime Music and Amazon Music Unlimited digital services. Of the $63.16, $47.00 had accrued on the Amazon Prime Music service pursuant to the U.S. Copyright Act, Section 115 blanket compulsory mechanical license. We no longer administer that license, and we are not holding any royalties ************** may have earned pursuant to that license (as we indicated in our previous communication). The remaining royalties (~$16) accrued pursuant to a voluntary license agreement between ************** and Amazon on the Amazon Music ***************** that he voluntarily opted into. Royalties are paid under this license when the accrued amount is equal to or greater than $50, which is why ************** has not received payment under this license yet.  If ************** would like to have that threshold lowered, we ask that he send a written request to ****************************************** which states that the threshold be lowered to his desired amount so that we can issue the accrued royalties from the Amazon Music ***************** provided they are over the desired threshold.
