On Thursday 04/28/22 at 10:19 AM Inv#********, I took my 91 ***** Caprice for an oil change and waited in the waiting room at Jiffy Lube #1532 ************************************************************************************************. When finished I paid and drove home parking in the driveway in the same spot as always, due the vehicles size and manueverability it is the best spot. The next morning the vehicle was used and my wife leaving for work saw a huge fresh clean oil stain on the driveway where the caprice was parked, it was alot of oil, so we called our son to have it checked. He first checked the oil level and advised us it was overfilled. Then he checked if oil was spilled excessively on the engine around the fill openning and found no signs of oil spilled, the cap was securely on. He got under the car to witness the drainplug was flush to the oil pan, but he had no reach to check looseness. The oil kept draining on the driveway everytime the car parked there and the oil level seamed to lower ever so slightly. On 05/09/22 I ************************* drove the car to the Jiffy lube where I had the oil changed on 04/28/22, and asked the technician to inspect under the vehicle for a cause of the oil leak. He had me drive the car in the bay where He walked down under and inspected the car with a flashlight. He walked out from under the vehicle within 5 minutes and reported to me that it was a rear main seal that they do not do that repair. He did not mention the oil pan had a fairly new drainplug and that the threads on the oil pan were damaged from overtightening. He allowed me to trust his inspection and evaluation that the failure was a rear main seal, which is not a part that will suddenly pop off, and cause a major failure in the engine due lack of lubrication. We continued cleaning the driveway until Sunday 05/21/22, On Tuesday 05/23/22 I got an appoinment with an unbiase repair shop to inspect and evaluated the oil leak. They advised it was a stripped oil drainplug with oil pan threads were damaged.
