My boyfriend took my car to Big O tires, they were to mount 4 brand new tires and change the oil on my 2019 Subaru Crosstrek. While waiting for my vehicle, the technician working on my car didn’t tighten the oil filter down before firing up the engine and it resulted in oil all over my vehicles exterior, engine compartment and inside in my car. Not only did the shop manager **** fail to notify us of the issue right when it happened, he failed to tell the truth the shop owner and they claimed it was only a tiny oil spill on the floor of their shop. The owner of the shop failed to disclose the severity of the spill until after charging our business card for over $500. She knew if she would have disclosed what actually happened to my vehicle, we would have refused to pay for service! My boyfriend brought my car home smoking from all the oil burning in the engine compartment. There is oil leaking into my paved driveway I now have to clean. My vehicle is not operable until it gets professional degreased and cleaned and ensured there isn’t a fire hazard I am in. I had to rent a vehicle to take myself to and from work while my only vehicle (the Subaru) is getting decontaminated and insurance adjusters review damages. I returned to Big O tires less than 24 hours after they rendered service and demanded a refund and explained to the owner I had to rent a car and call off work to deal with this situation. She replies to me that all of this is a big overreaction. The owner then proceeds to call the sheriffs on me for “trespassing” so I respectfully removed myself from the property, which I had been on for approximately 2 hours prior waiting for her return from “errands” as told to me by the manager of the shop. I waited for the sheriffs arrival in my vehicle in front of a neighboring establishment and gave them a statement and asked for a report number to look up police report in the foreseeable future. I am appalled with how I was treated as a customer of this company

      Business response

On June 26,2023 this vehicle was brought in for 4 tires and an oil change. While I was out, the technician working on the vehicle had left the oil filter loose. when starting the vehicle, this resulted in an oil spray. I happened to return to the shop right after the incident. I was met with an irate customer, I understood the frustration. I went to the vehicle to see what had happened. Upon seeing the situation, I instructed the technician to clean as much as possible. I returned to the customer, immediately took $100 off the bill for the inconvience and offered to pay for a professional cleaning of the vehicle.

Unfortunetly, this was not enough. The customer became even angrier screaming at myself and demanding the technician be fired. After about 20 minutes, I did send the technician home for the day out of fear the customer was going to harm him. After an additional 20 minutes of yelling, I gave the customer my garage insurance information for their piece of mind that it will be addressed. Within 45 minutes of leaving the building, the customer called my corporate office, stalked all of my personal social media and left scathing reviews on all review sites falsly stating I refused to make this situation right.

Customer came back the following day, harrassing 3 employees while waiting for me to return from a meeting. Immediately as I arrived, I was verbally attacked with a camera in my face. Neither customer would allow me to speak. It was so loud and volitile, I was forced to call the local sheriff for assistance. I called my corporate office to assist in mediation. My corporate office is also involved and attempting to come to a conclusion.

I am still willing to pay for professional cleaning of the vehicle as this was an unfortunte accident that I would like to correct. I am also willing to give a complete refund if my tires are returned to me in new condition.

This will need to be mediated through my corporate office. It can also go through my insurance company.

      Customer response

      06/28/2023

I am rejecting this response because:

From this moment forward I will be issuing ***** an invoice via email and USPS certified mail for the total amount that it takes me to clean my vehicle and all costs incurred due to the contamination.

A corporate phone number, mailing address or insurance company phone number would be greatly appreciated, otherwise, I will have to look this information up myself via google to proceed.

I have not received any written information from the owner to contact these resources she suggests mediates our issue.
