The issue is that Encol gave us another client's bill and falsely claimed it was ours, took our cash, and refuses to reimburse us for the error. We wished to build an attic addition and contacted Encol Construction in Apr 2022. We did not yet have a contract with them for the work, but as part of the planning we needed architectural drawings. Later the architect informed us that a structural engineer was required. Encol billed us for $5923 on 8/23/22. That was divided into two parts, one part to the architect, ***************************** at *********, total of $2492 ($2076.97 for the architect + contractor fee of $415.03); and an engineering fee to ********************************** of ******************* ******************* total of $3431. The latter included two bills, one for $554.10 for us (titled client ****-Storage room addition), and the other for $2303.99, (titled client ****-ARC remodel). A contractor fee of $ ****** was charged on the engineering total. We assumed all our engineering fees had then been paid but no plans were provided to us by Encol.Due to serious irregularities in a ************* with Encol, we decided not to have them perform the attic addition in Oct 2022. It was then that we discovered the billing error. The engineer has only received the $554 payment on our account and informed us that the $2303 bill was for another client of Encol, titled Aurora ARC. The structural engineer was told not to proceed with the final plans by Encol, and all we have received from her is a piece of paper with scribbled notes on the project for the $3431 charge. We are requesting that Encol provide us with a check for $2876.90 to pay us back for the improper billing and the associated contractor fee ($3431 - $554.10=2876.90). Encol has refused to respond after multiple contacts from us and the structural engineer.
