On December 11, 2023, Better Business Bureau recognized?a?pattern?of consumer complaints filed against Cortexi. Consumers have asserted concerns with the Product, Customer Service, Billing, and Refunds. This product has been called into question by consumers who allege that it fails to perform as advertised. Consumers also allege that the business advertises a 60-Day Money Back Guarantee and when reaching out to get a refund they are told that the 60-day period has expired; Additionally, consumers allege being told to use the product for 60 days, but the business considers the date of purchase as the start date, not the delivery date. Consumers also allege not getting a refund after returning the product.

BBB notified Cortexi of the complaint pattern. To this date, Cortexi has been unresponsive.

On December 11, 2023, Better Business Bureau contacted Cortexi concerning the following advertising claims found on its website, https://cortexiofficialsite.com/:  

• 60-Day Money Back Guarantee. "Cortexi comes with a 100% money back guarantee - 60 full days from your original purchase. If you're not totally and completely satisfied with our product or your results within the first 60 days simply let us know by calling our toll-free number or dropping us an email and we'll gladly give you a full refund within 48 hours of the product being returned. That's right - simply return the product, even your empty bottles, anytime within 60 days of your purchase and you'll receive a full, no-questions-asked refund (minus shipping and handling fees)." BBB has received multiple consumer complaints alleging that no full refunds have been provided.  

• Endorsements. The business website is displaying the following seals: GMP Certified, FDA Seal, Made in the USA, 100% Natural ingredients, GMO Free. BBB could not locate information on the business website that substantiates the usage of these seals. The checkout page is displaying institutions seals as their scientific references. University of Glasgow, University of Leicester, Pubmed and Nature. BBB could not locate information on the business website that substantiates the usage of these seals.

• "Its ingredients are scientifically proven to have medicinal properties that promote optimal ear health" BBB could not locate information on the business website about a clinical trial or studies conducted to scientifically prove the efficacy of this product. 

• "This natural supplement is free from GMO ingredients and adverse effects, making it an ideal choice for those looking for a natural approach to improve their hearing."

• "Thanks to its powerful compounds working together in synergy, Cortexi can enhance hearing significantly in just one week." BBB could not locate information on the business website about a clinical trial or studies conducted to scientifically prove the efficacy of this product. 

• "Cortexi's pharmaceutical manufacturing facility has obtained FDA approval and strictly follows rigorous standards to ensure sterility and quality of their products. The facility also produces other high quality natural products, and Cortexi uses only the purest ingredients that undergo thorough testing for impurities" BBB could not locate information on the business website about the FDA approved facility. 

• "Cortexi is a natural dietary supplement that offers several health benefits." BBB could not locate information on the business website about a clinical trial or studies conducted to scientifically prove the efficacy of this product. 

• "High pressure sales including a Dark Pattern. The website is displaying a countdown to when the offer is supposedly ending. "ATTENTION: Act fast! Cortexi stock is limited. Secure your reserved pouch now before your discount expires."

• Testimonials. Customer reviews speak about unsubstantiated health claims. The business website is displaying stock images as reviewers.

• Comparison with own former selling price.

• Sales. 

• Made in the USA

• Disclaimer at the foot of the checkout page negates claims made throughout the website.   

Advertisements should be truthful, sincere offers to sell. Advertisers have a responsibility to have substantiation for all claims made and should be able to provide that substantiation upon request. All advertising that may mislead or deceive consumers should be avoided.     

When comparisons are made to a former selling price, it must be to a bona fide price that has been offered for a reasonable time. If no sales had been made at that price, the advertiser must be sure that the markup on the higher-priced product is similar to other products.  

Retailers can advertise “sales” where they are offering a significant reduction in price for a limited period of time. At the end of the sale period, retailers can, in good faith, convert the sale price to a new regular price if they no longer claim savings. The unqualified term “sale” may be used in advertising only if there is a significant reduction from the advertiser's usual and customary price of the products or services offered and the sale is for a limited period of time. If the sale exceeds thirty (30) days, advertisers should be prepared to substantiate that the offering is indeed a valid price reduction and has not become their regular price.  

Claims relating to performance and results should be backed up by reliable evidence. 

"Made in USA," and similar terms used to describe the origin of a product must be truthful and substantiated. In general, all or virtually all of the product must be made in the USA. Qualified “Made in USA” claims can be made under certain circumstances and with appropriate disclosures.  

Despite written requests, as of December 19, 2023, Cortexi has not responded to BBB’s request for revisions and clarification in its advertising.
