On June 28, 2022, as part of an industry-wide review of CBD businesses in our service area, Better Business Bureau contacted Zakah Life, LLC concerning the following advertising claims found on their website, https://zakahlife.com/:

- "Some studies and anecdotal evidence have found that CBD oil may be helpful in treating conditions like anxiety and pain in dogs, cats and other animals."
- "The benefits of phyto-cannabinoid rich hemp oil produced from sustainable, agricultural hemp plants are endless, from promoting peak health and homeostasis to being good for the skin and pets."
- "Research shows that CBD can be effective in calming and reducing anxiety in dogs, cats and other animals, as well as reducing or easing pain in dogs and cats that suffer from temporary or chronic pain."
- "If you’re new to the hemp community, incorporating our CBD products into your daily routine is a safe and effective way to enhance your health."
- "Our Full Spectrum Hemp is grown on our exclusive farm in Northern Iowa, using our powerful probiotic methodology and department of AG approved soil and fermented tea. This method is above organic.??"
- CBD Blog and CBD Education pages contain multiple unsubstantiated health claims.
- Product Descriptions contain multiple unsubstantiated health claims.
BBB requested that Zakah Life, LLC review its advertising and provide substantiation based on reliable, recent, competent testing for each of the health claims made and to discontinue any advertising that is in violation of FDA and FTC mandates for this industry.
Despite written requests, as of November 16, 2022, Zakah Life, LLC has not responded to BBB’s request for revisions and clarification in its advertising.
Advertisements should be truthful, sincere offers to sell. Advertisers have a responsibility to have substantiation for all claims made and should be able to provide that substantiation upon request. All advertising that may mislead or deceive consumers should be avoided.
Claims relating to performance and results should be backed up by reliable evidence.
Claims that relate to tangible qualities and performance values of a product or service can be used when the advertiser has substantiation. An example of a claim requiring substantiation would be "#1 car sales in the city".
