I was looking for a contractor to do remodel on my house and he gave me a proposal on 10/17/22 and I gave him down payments of $1,500 on 10/20/22 and he never came back. I kept asking him when we was coming to start and he always had an excuse so I asked him for a refund and he said it is to save my spot on his schedule and it is non refundable, so I asked him that when am I on the schedule and work will be started. On 12/14/2022 he said after Christmas and he never came or contacted me. Asked again on 05/02/2023 and no answer. Couldn't get threw to him after that.Business response

Yes I had scheduled the job for the customer and she called me and said she had to buy a new car. It was around Christmas time and I proceeded to tell her the $1500 was a down payment for making sure the job was secure. She asked for the money back and I explained to her that is what the down payment was for. She put me and my crew in a bad situation with her canceling the job. I will be willing to go to court on this matter.The customer did want me to go back after her canceling and she expected for me to still return the money. Again, I explained to her the money down was to secure the job on the date it was supposed to start. Once she canceled I did not feel comfortable about future work with her. I understand things happen like buying a new car but that is not my problem or my crews problem that she did not stay reliable. Again I will be willing to go to court for this matter. I am rejecting this response because:I was never giving a date to start, it was always maybe in a week, maybe in 2 weeks, so I asked him to do few small things to start the job then he got covid and could not work for a while that he is behind. Then my car broke down so I had to buy new car and I had to use the money so I asked to cancel the contract and that is when he said it is to set schedule that was never scheduled. So I asked to do the work for $1500 that I paid or I would like a refund and It was never answered.
