    On April 12, 2022 I had my HVAC come out to diagnosis and repair a leak that had damaged several parts in my condo's attic. My HVAC contactor did the repairs/replacement. He found that the damage was coming, not from my unit, but from a faulty pipe/sprinkler head in one of the trap doors on the buildings roof that holds various AC wires from many units in the building. I contacted the *** manager, he had an inspector come out and the *** replaced the sprinkler head. Apparently, per the inspector, although it was a small leak it had been leaking for a substantial period of time. *******************, *** manager, told me my damage would be paid for by the ***, since the leak was not from my unit. He spoke to my HVAC company to confirm the leak from the buildings trap door, which **************** was unaware existed, thus was never maintained. He then via email asked me to send him the invoice. Upon receiving the invoice for the $7,600 (obviously more than he had expected). Thus I received an email informing me it was now my responsibility and I should have my insurance pay for the expense. I explained that I had gone through my insurance company and they had denied the claim based on the damage caused by the building not my unit. **************** then asked for the denial letter, which I forwarded. I then receive a letter from the *** attorney stating that since the *** was unaware of the trap doors, they were not responsible for the maintenance of the pipes/sprinkler heads. Stating the *** had no responsibility and that my request for reimbursement was denied. When, in fact I had been told the *** was responsible. Why else would **************** ask for the invoice? This is typical of this *** Manager, as he is not familiar with the building and seems to always playing catch up for the various problems arising in the building.
