Hired Ace Handyman Services to repair some drywall and trim after water damage. ***** and ****** did a terrific job.

Scheduled an appointment on 24 May for an estimate to replace a rotted ******** on my deck stairs. I was charge a $70 estimate fee and that per the receptionist/scheduler that was working the phone that day stated that the $70 would be applied to the job should I elect to have Ace Handyman Services do the work. **** the estimator stated that only $35 dollars would be credited and applied to the job. Upon contacting the company another receptionist/scheduler stated that the employee working the phone was new and spoke out of turn and that only $35 would be credited. I explained that what was quoted is what the company should honor per a verbal contract. The receptionist/scheduler said that she would speak to her manager and make sure that the full amount would be honored. Job completed on 14 June, the invoice did not reflect the additional $35 was applied. ***** the Handyman contacted his manager and I was placed on speaker phone regarding the company not honoring the full amount as promised. His manager proceeded to have **** turn off the speaker to have a private conversation. Conclusion of their conversation...the new invoice that did reflect the additional $35 but was changed to reflected a higher amount of $718 then what I was originally quoted at $667.40. It appeared to be a bait and switch to offset the additional $35 by charging me additional labor hours on top of what was originally quoted. **** stated that **** was no longer with the company due to under estimating jobs. Explained that's an independent matter and that the company is responsible and should be liable for their employee's mistakes or shady underbidding practices. Overall poor customer service since ****'s manager didn't have the common curtesy to deal with me directly. This coming from a repeat customer. My advice to those contemplating using this company, DON'T! Deceptive, poor customer service, bait and switch practices. Zero Star rating.

In mid-May I made an appointment with **** at *** Handyman Services of Colorado Springs (487 *************** *****) for an estimate to stain our deck, for which I was told there was a $70 fee with $35 to be refunded if I accepted the estimate. On May 17, **** inspected the deck, collected a personal check for $70, and told me I would receive the estimate from **** within 48 hours. I never received the estimate, so I had to make arrangements for another painter. When I talked with my bank about a possible scam, the officer called *** Handyman and confirmed that they do charge $70 for an estimate. He also confirmed that the check had not been negotiated for cash but had been deposited into ***s bank account, endorsed with the *** Handyman stamp. I called the *** Handyman office three times, once about a week after ***** inspection, again at 12:20p.m. on June 6 to request an explanation and a refund of my $70. On June 6, I was told by ********* that she would let **** know and that he would return my call. Having received no return call, I called again on June 7 at 11:40a.m and explained my dissatisfaction to *********. She again promised that she would tell the office manager, who would return my call. As of today, June 9, no one from *** has called to explain how my $70 was deposited in their account without my receiving what I paid for.
